Week #4 Key It Campus Law

For the "Key It" Mission, we've developed two distinct approaches to the Key Art for Campus Law. One is photography-based, incorporating the characters into the school environment in which the show will take place, in positions that reflect their respective personality traits. The other is minimalistic, which was a great exercise in boiling down the show to it's essence and relaying it in a creative way. Our official "Campus Law" logo is also incorporated into both posters- another element with which we convey the themes of the show!

I love how you guys characterized yourselves with punctuation! Also I'd sure like to get cozy in that locker with Gilroy!

Week 4 Key It: Poster A Campus Law

Poster A

Using school lockers as a backdrop defines our characters' environment. The yellow lockers compliment the blue uniforms and recall the yellow in the show's logo. Each character's position reflects his personality; Gilroy isn't very bright- which often gets him into trouble, Fox is unexpected, and Truman is more down-to-earth yet aggressive. The show's tagline "RESPECT AUTHORITY" remains quite prominent but also blends seamlessly into the scene as a sticker on the lockers. Finally, our attention is directed to the logo which takes a large and unobstructed position on the left side of the frame.

Week 4 Key It: Poster B Campus Law

Poster B

Using a minimalist approach, this poster focuses on the main features of Campus Law's protagonists. The punctuation marks above each of their heads serve as visual representations of their personality traits. The background recalls the colors found within the logo, with the blue side of the gradient on the bottom of the frame to help recreate the uniforms within the negative space.

Original Branding

Original Branding

When we first came up with the concept for Campus Law, this was one of the directions in which we considered taking the branding. After further reflection, we decided to base it in lighter colors to reflect the tone of the show.

Logo Draft

Logo Draft

This was a first draft of the Campus Law logo, which is very close to what we ended up going with. Certain elements were changed to be more clear about what the show it about!

Campus Law - Final Logo

Campus Law - Final Logo

This is our final logo, which was developed in collaboration with designer Jean-Baptiste Vachon.
We really wanted our logo to summarize some of the themes of the show, so we chose to model it after a school crest. The elements within the crest are representative of either the college lifestyle or the character's jobs as security guards. The entire crest is slightly tilted to convey that this show can get a little wild. As a bonus, we were able to incorporate a little bit of ourselves into it, by writing MMS (Moving Mind Studio) in Greek letters above the design!

I can't decide. It's either 'Saved by the Bell' or Shepard Fairey.

My sentiments are an echo of Dylan M's comments. I, too, preferred Poster B but voted for A due to the actual pictures of the guys on it. The school lockers also added to the campus atmosphere.

Although I liked the B poster I think the A poster gets the message across better. It puts the characters into their setting and shows the silliness that is to come.

The locker poster is draws much more usual attention. Also, the placement of each of the characters is dynamic by adding multiple levels to the image. It was very smart to have the logo so prominent, and I obstructed. Awesom work guys!

I like both, but "A" sums it up at a glance, whereas "B" requires some time to digest - ain't nobody got time for that. "A" it is.

I love them both but have go choose one so ill go for A. It comes off well as a tv show poster and i can see it as a bus stop or metro ad. i think the logo is the best ive seen done by any project.

I like the minimalist poster approach only because I am a fan of those types of designs. A is more like your show and theme, but, I dig B

Both of your posters are pretty creative. I chose A over B as it reflects the goofiness of your characters nicely. The only issue I have with it though is that I find lockers seem to relate more to high school rather than a college/university type setting as you guys are going for.
