Week #3 The Differentiator Jobless

While being interviewed for their dream job, Mike and Adam are challenged with describing how they stand apart from the other applicants. Adam provides poignant examples of the duo's resourcefulness, and Mike demonstrates his critical thinking skills before working himself into a frenzy. Both struggle to maintain their integrity.

An enlightened Aidan.

An enlightened Aidan.

Aidan constructs our "wall of light", using a shower curtain, blue gels, and a variety of stands and flags. Lights were eventually erected between the window and the diffusion and the structure kept our daylight consistent as the sun went down.

Aidan sits in with Adam as we build the reverse angle lighting. This was a photo to test the edge light on the two character's heads. We used LED panel lights suspended on a free standing wall. Also pictured: pizza.

The interview segment is pretty funny! How many times have we went to a job interview just wanting to scream "just give me the job because..." Well, maybe not in a stolen shirt and begging on our knees but we thought it, didn't we??

This is definitely my favorite of the shows. I hope this ends up on TV. I like how it keeps pushing the desperation and futility a little further, but in a creative way and with dry wit so I still relate to the guys. Very unique and honest feel.

There are things that define us, and things that make us who we are (so, I guess, define us again). This video clearly shows how your idea is unique and different (and funny!). There's nothing I would like to see more than for this show to progress!

What is this dream job which the guys are seeking? Does it even exist? Is it a single driving "I'm a dancer" type of ambition where nothing will do until the dream of prancing around in tights on stage for a living is realized or is it a moving target where each week the dream is different? Or, assuming there were jobs in Ptbo. is the dream job a moving target that changes weeks after getting the dream position only to find out it is.. hard work / full of ants / actually toxic / has a boss who whips cubicle workers / involves a co-worker who is uber-flatulent etc, etc, etc

In this particular instance, the dream "position" we're looking for is the winning position in the ComedyCoup contest. We decided we could show how different we were from the rest by framing it in the style of what our show is like!

I love the idea of two guys that just can't get jobs, in fact the idea of more and more people being jobless and desperate, like an epidemic of joblessness and the montage of hilariousness that can ensue when the entire city becomes jobless. A city with no jobs! I'd add more montages but otherwise I'm curious to see where they would go with the story.

Great honest intensity from Mike and several laugh out loud moments of snappy dialogue. "White MALE privileged." Perfect.:-) "Totally broken." If someone stole my shirt from the gym I'd be honoured to see it strapped to Adam's frame. Nice cameo from a local teacher/patriot.

I like how you guys managed to answer this mission with a simple yet still humorous video. I definitely would have enjoyed seeing more about your show though, from the synopsis I take away that it's about two unemployed guys, but in your videos I don't find this very well explained. Good luck with the competition!

Your video was actually funny but you didnt convince me that it was more original than the other concept I just have the impression that there is nothing new in this concept and I hoped that with the mission of the week you would have attempted to show why you are not one amonsgt 150 projects but you didnt even try to achiebe the mission in this video

Hey Felix! Thanks for taking the time to check out our video and for offering your feedback. We definitely tried to achieve the mission, and felt that we communicated our key points (most of them anyway, 90 seconds is an awfully short time) whilst maintaining our commitment to the characters and overall style of the show. We're sorry that we were unable to hook you with this instalment, but hope that we can turn you around in the future. Please stay tuned! It's our hope that we'll make a believer of you.

Felix my man, I understand where you're coming from and it IS something we should totally focus down on in our videos from a content stand point. What we were expressing here was how we can produce content cheaply and that we are endlessly self effacing, but we also totally need to do is show you everywhere this show can go. We start off with the basic premise of two guys can't get a job but the efforts they put forth in finding work take us to a wide variety of places that could last many seasons. We can do parody and more cinematic sequences, as well as bottle episodes (similar to what you see above). We also produce the show online right now and it can be found by searching Mike and Adam are Jobless on YouTube, so not only can you see an example of the show's breadth, you can also see why we think the show could exist not only as television but also web content for the CBC.

Thanks for the feedback, Felix! Glad you found the video funny, but sorry you didn't feel we were unique enough. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose! Good luck to your team if you have one or the team you're supporting!
