Week #3 The Differentiator Ranger Bay

Differentiator: What separates 'Ranger Bay' from other concepts. The show uses a strong, female lead character. Site specific show takes place in a major, urban park, in a major, Canadian city, Vancouver. The show makes reference to local British Columbian and Canadian specific events. Comedians are brought in as characters in the park to 'rant' about social issues that bother them.

Female leads rule! This is a fun concept! I like Canada's park system! It's a great program and people got to work there! Let's see them in action!

I appreciate that you kept it PG, that the video was informative, your use of setting as a unique character, and your choice of a female lead! Also, definitely looking forward to seeing Fred Ewaniuk on TV again! Keep it going!

This strikes me as a show that requires you to live in Vancouver to get the jokes. It certainly has potential though as jokes like that have work for shows like Portlandia. Good luck with the project!

    I will say two things.
Great potential for a west coast comedy with flash backs to Beach Comber's.
There is a view of humor from every angle , that each character will grow on the viewing audience.
I'm liking this Ranger Bay series already. "give us more ! "

Not sure that I would care about this project since I don't live in Vancouver. Might be a better concept for a local station. The rest of us might not get all the Vancouver jokes. Just sayin..

Loving this concept and having a female lead with Stanley Park as a back drop is just awesome. Plus who wouldn't want to poke a little fun at Vancouverites.

Haha I love the irony of a police cadet accidentally starting the Stanley Cup riot! Way to make fun of an incredibly embarrassing moment in Vancouver's history. It's good not to forget these things so we don't repeat the same mistakes, but it's also nice to be able to laugh at ourselves!

Nice premise! 'Coupla things - Brinn needs an epic monologue r two. And, further to the Stanley Park motif, a Rocket Raccoon cameo would be really cool… but you've probably heard that a thousand times already, eh? Anyway, I've got a roach smoldering away here so - great work, all the best :)

LOVE the concept of filming a show about Vancouver, in Vancouver and actually acknowledging it AS Vancouver. This city is a minefield of comedy potential and I can't wait to see more. Would love to see more of the actual characters though - assume that's coming. Here's hoping you make it all the way.

If you're going to advertise a strong female lead character, it seems incongruous to have 3 men talk about it when apparently Brynn (sorry if misspelled couldn't find her name on your project pages) was behind the camera. I understand she's an actress and perhaps not a creator of the project, however, it doesn't seem unfair to think a female perspective would enhance the role of a strong female lead.
Unless that was all part of a joke that I've failed to understand.

Working with comedians as guests of the park seems like a great idea! I'd love to hear some 'ranters' going off in a hilariously comic way. Also, it would be a good way to make fun of Vancouverites and Canadians in all their glory. So many talented and funny Canadians. Keep up the great work everyone!!!

I think it could definitely be interesting to use random improv actors throughout the show. It may be a little risky though and slow down the filming of the series because you will be taking a chance on random individuals to be funny. Good luck in the competition guys!

Ranger Bay. Great concept. It will be interesting and fun if the creators really do let them improv a little. There is a script but it can change a little if the actors contribute as you go. I think this will add excitement. Looking forward to watching this Ranger Bay.

Big fan of the concept but I'm not sure using a "strong female lead" is as original or different any more (thank goodness)! Much more interested in the idea of letting your actors improvise...excited to see what's next.
