Blood's a bit eery. Menstruation made as a joke is an interesting angle. Good luck on your journey to fulfilment!

I don't like this. Maybe as a guy I am just too uncomfortable with seeing jars of menstrual blood (is this really a thing anyone does?) and hearing that much talk about it. Maybe that is wrong of me but to be honest I don't see a national TV show succeeding when a lot of men and also women would be turned off by subject matter they think is kinda gross.

this video was pretty nasty. I don't think many viewers will want to see this much about the menstrual cycle or get this many visuals based on it. This is not for me sorry.

Bravo to the Crimson Wave for popularizing and rendering super cute/funny the conversation on menstruation. Hyperbolized female perspective is a great way to open the flood gates of authentically women-centred stories on main stream media. Keep it flowing, 'til Le Tigre calls you out on Hot Topic (if they haven't already.)

Absolutely disgusting. Which is awesome. I completely think there is space in the world for a really "real" female show - one that laughs in the face of the disgusting and the gross and the completely natural. For example - period poops. Let's see an entire episode that explains period poops to people.

I think every woman has a weird vagina story waiting inside. You either bled on something, or had some kind of weird goop come out, or maybe the gyno got her speculum stuck inside you and had to actually hoist her foot up on the table to get leverage as she tried to yank it out - at which point the mechanism that was keeping it stuck open (and inside you) gives way with a giant CRANK and the gyno actually falls backward a little. Not that that happened to anybody I know. Or me.

    Uh, well... good luck.

It's bad enough we are forced to watch tampon commercials on TV. Personally I skip through them as soon as they come on, but I can't think of anything more disgusting than using this concept for a show. It's not something I would watch or would anyone that I know. I have to give you credit though for your originality and creativity, but you are going to need more than luck to be successful in this venture.

You can't handle tampon commercials? Me neither considering that bullshit blue dye they use to simulate some sort of sterilized version of the menstrual cycle. I think it's high time for a show this honest and positive about women's bodies to be on the air!

    Babs's Photo
    Babs N. 4  posted 10 years ago

There is no bigger turn off for me than men who can't talk about periods...first of all if women didn't have periods, you wouldn't exist...so you better start thinking about the bloody suffering women go through so that people can go on existing...men should be bringing us hot pads for our aching bodies when we are bleeding and buying our pads, tampons and diva cups proudly and with gratitude that we go through it all, not to mention the pain of child birth.

Wow. You sir have some issues you need to work through. "Tampon commercials" are not being "forced" upon you. You thinking that menstruation is so disgusting that you can't even sit through a tampon commercial is disgusting to us. People like you are the reason women feel such shame about their periods and about their bodies and why they can't discuss what's happening with them openly. If you don't like our show, fine, but for the love of god menstruation is totally natural and tampons are not horrific. You know what would be a more "disgusting" show concept than this? An insanely violent one that features the same amount of blood but has few people complaining about it because apparently blood in relation to violence is great but blood in relation to vaginas is "disgusting".

Some people really cant handle even the smallest bit of blood, and not to say that menstruation blood is more gross, menstruation is a wonderful thing and YAY women! but im not sure if the blood thing could make it on TV.. maybe a show that TALKS about menstruation? Even that, the concept is a bit wonky. Good luck, though!

Kinda gross. I don't imagine ever being able to watch this on prime time. On the internet, sure anything goes - but we're talking about CBC here. Alternatively, you should pitch this to diva cup because they'll probably find it hilarious and perhaps would be interested in funding some product placement for a web series.

Team Crimson Wave, your videos make me think two things:

    1) There is no way CBC will air this at prime time.
    2) CBC has to air this at prime time.

I would be so proud to be Canadian if this was green lit. It's like nothing else on TV. Edgy and relevant. Oh gawd, I just used the word "edgy". Buzzword barf. This isn't edgy. This is a revolution. Vive la Crimson Wave.

I loved the choice to show his "just looking at the mail" outtakes (*sidenote to Faisal, I really believed those letters were for you). I love how the leads treat "radical" as normal. I think the audience will gradually learn. The hosts are not insane. The world is. There's a great Sue-Johanson-nonjudgmental-frank-and-funny vibe. I think it might be fun to interact with some characters with different (repressed, shy) energy.

Maybe a way to frame the whole series is that the hosts find out that they are the descendants of some nasty people who made womens' lives hell (witch burners, the inventor of the corset, etc). To make amends, they pledge to fight for the cause of women's inner peace. Every time a woman feels comfortable with her body they mark it down in their book. It doesn't always work out but they try to spread love and comfort in this terrified, repressed world.

I honestly would not like to see a show on television about any ones menstrual cycle including their period. It could be covered easily in a short skit.

It's not JUST about periods. It's also about women's sexuality, us exploring our bodies, relationships, feminism, and most importantly friendship. Also, there is LOTS to explore in regards to menstruation. Like TONS. Thanks for watching though and for the message.

That was incredible. I love the work both of you are doing right now, it's as funny as it is important. Love the podcast, amazing live shows, and now it needs to be a tv show. You're both a really big inspiration to me, thanks so much for being so funny and so brave.
