This show looks like it's gonna be great, and I'll have to go with poster B by the way.

When it comes to the show, I'm also going to be disappointed if every line isn't in iambic pentameter.

Week 4 Key It: Poster A Blank Verse: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Poster A

The inspiration for this first image, of course, comes from the infamous skull scene in Hamlet. The immediate reference point should evoke strong connections for the audience to the Shakespearean source material, while the hints of plaid and the fake moustache elude to the modern tone of the show.

Week 4 Key It: Poster B Blank Verse: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Poster B

What evokes a blend of classic writing with modern sensibility better than a feather pen and a hashtag?

Optional Images

UBC Graduates Amanda Konkin, Andrew Lynch, Geneviève Bolduc and Ryan Caron have been making digital film projects together for over 3 years. They come together to get things done and are a huge support for one another both professionally and personally. Blank Verse features a lot of creative voices & talents and these 4 are only a few of them, but they do try to keep things moving and work to bring the rest of the team together to make some pretty awesome art. They also have the ability to pull off great feats with no time, fewer resources, talented friends and a crap ton of elbow grease!

Fun fact- We shot this mission in Director Ryan Caron's house, while Mission 3 was shot at Andrew Lynch's house and Mission 2 was shot at Amanda Konkin's. Guess we are on to Geneviève's next!

Ben Jonson Promo Stills

Ben Jonson Promo Stills

In our webseries for Blank Verse, Benjamina Jonson got her own spin off called Ben Jonson's Vlog. We produced some amazing promo images for that show and feel as though they add an excellent additional tone to the project. While we wanted to go with iconic Shakespearean symbols for the key images for Comedy Coup, we still really like the aesthetic created in these photos and think they are a great indicator of what the show could be.

Bankside University Logo

Bankside University Logo

The fictional university Shakespeare & his friends attend is called Bankside, named after 'Bankside' in England where The Globe theatre was traditionally located. Our Production Designer for the webseries, Carolyn Rapanos, created many logos and designs to populate our world including the university's logo pictured here, as well as the Anchor Pub (modelled after the historical bar Shakespeare frequented) & our logo for the Bankside cafe called What the Hell is Coffee? (because Elizabethan England didn't have coffee). Thoughtful design details throughout the show build our world in subtle ways.

I'm going to go with Poster A as it has more of a mystery feel to it but not sure if that's what you're going for??? What is the 'blankverse' comment about??? Good luck and hope you can make the next round.

Of your posters I choose poster B, once I noticed the feather pen it seemed like the right choice

Pretty partial to A myself. I think B is also strong, but the white feather pen on white background doesn't read as immediately as the references in A. I also think the subtext is more legible in A.

My only concern with A is the title feeling a bit swept aside in the bottom right corner; title in B is definitely nicely being countered by the ComedyCoup logo in the opposite corner.

Two strong images though (and the skull/books one above is also a really nice composition)! Go Blankverse!

Tough choice as I like them both and how interesting that you made us choose between black and white! The black was really effective and evocative, but I chose the white because it had a cleaner, more modern feel.

I'm going to have to say poster A. I think that poster A overall relates more to your concept, it would be nice if it was a bit lighter as the dark background makes it slightly difficult to see. Saying that, I also think that poster B is somewhat too light which makes it hard to see the contrast of the white feather. I like that they are both relatively simplistic though, good work guys.

Poster A makes the most sense to me, though I actually LOVE the headline poster with the books and the mustache.

Found poster A a little dark for a show that has such funny, smart writing and such heart.

I didn't really understand the hashtag until I read the description of the poster underneath. It's a neat idea, just wish it was executed better!
