Week #5 Hype It Dookie Squad

Dookie Squad isn't just about janitors cleaning. It's a wicked-cool workplace comedy that makes you laugh but also one you can relate to. One of our fans said it best: "The fact is we all do sh*tty jobs; the trick is finding the funny in the situation. Dookie Squad does this quite well, and the diversity of the cast makes it a realistic and relatable show"- Patricia R

My first thought was "Grey's Anatomy without all those damn privileged whiny doctors ... so it might be kind of epic!"

Decent; that is my rating for this video after careful consideration and review so that I might meet the one hundred character requirement and earn another merit badge in the comedy coup competition.

I like the cover photo that I chose for this group. I didn't quite like the commentary of this current video. It wasn't quite sold with enthusiasm and there was a lot of looking away from the camera. She seem very shy and unsure. I like the concept of young janitors cleaning and all the issues they will encounter on a daily basis. The office environment is so unpredictable, dramatic, and hilarious when you add comedy to it. Good luck :)

I was very glad to see that this project is more than poo humour. Relying on the characters for the jokes is great and the right approach in my opinion. If I was to change one thing about the whole project, it would be the name of it. Then we'd be cooking with something sellable I think.

I might've been able to overlook the gross-out humour, but the technical issues in this video are pretty glaring. How did this get uploaded with sound that's not in sync? Also, the choice of music at the beginning was pretty poor, in my opinion. The tick-tock, tick-tock nature of the song only highlights the slow pace of the video --- not the greatest choice for something that's intended to get people amped up for your project.

You can really feel the heart with your week 5 video - however, it seems like it has the same formula as many hospital/drama/comedy shows on tv currently. It is true that "funny" exists in everything - it is all in how you perceive the situation.

At first I was apprehensive about a concept that revolved around cleaning toilets. While I can see potential humor here I hope it doesn't present too much puke, stench or dookie.

The sound was bad on this video. The pitch girl was pleasant but not loud enough in her acting as well. I liked what she was doing so I wanted to have the volume turned up on her acting. She's really good in the clips. I would give this one a chance. Good luck.

Really neat show idea, guys, it reminds me of Scrubs, but from the janitor's perspective. I really wish you'd chosen a different title because I think that'll turn people off before they even give it a chance (Cougar Town, anyone?). All in all though, good job on your video!

This video seemed very similar to your week #3 video, to be honest. So in terms of visual production this is fantastic. It's really easy to see the differences between the interview and show segments. It has a very real feeling to it.

However, the background noise when Angela is being interviewed is distracting as heck and really takes away from the segment. It's hard to focus on and hear what she's saying.

(Oh my god how many more reviews do I have to do now?? A Bajillion??") See you this weekend at the event!

I love how well developed the characters are in this film! A good show revolves around distinct characters and you didn't fall short on that! I'm also really happy this is in a hospital setting because it gives a new twist, rather than having the plain school janitor. Interesting concept for a show. I feel like, personally, it would be hard for me to relate to this show though, seeing as I am not in this industry. It seems like a very niche show that will only really appeal to people in the industry, so you have a good idea there. I think you have a large audience that this show can attract if you win. I wish you the best of luck in the competition!

This has been one of my favourites from the start. As someone who's worked in a similarly shitty job, I feel like I can relate to the characters you've presented so far. I hope to see some real deep character development in the weeks to come; my two cents would be to focus on the strong writing and humour and the rest will (hopefully) fall into place. I'm sure the slight tech. problems with your latest video won't be a problem if you are being produced as a show for CBC!

In reality, we are just working with what resources we have hence the poor quality of our zero budget vids. But eh, that's why we are in it to win it! We do have a great cast, script, concept and characters waiting to be explored for your entertainment! Just... need CBC majic to help make that happen.

Our team is so grateful for this opportunity. We are even more grateful to meet supporters like yourself everyday because of comedycoup!

    Thank you,

First off the sound quality was very poor, you sounded like you were whispering, So that didn't help which made the video kinda hard to follow (lost interest, couldn't hear). It needed to be a little funnier to. Your facebook page link for the HYPE IT UP is not working either, Not a good week 5 entry compared to other teams entries.

I'm also having a couple issues with your Facebook link, not sure if it isn't loaded or it just isn't working for me. You guys seem like a fun group and I wish you luck in the competition, you've done really well with your 3 press releases so far.
