Fave 57 Views 1105now that's a hype video! great job! love the leaves flyers and of course Chris Sandiford.
Comments (123)
Needing to keep it fresh you guys and that's what you did. Nice work with the whole good take on the tweets and the photos there. Social Media marketing ftw!
Decent; that is my rating for this video after careful consideration and review so that I might meet the one hundred character requirement and earn another merit badge in the comedy coup competition.
I hereby state that the following commentary is over the required 100 characters and is as follows: love it!
You guys have one of the best Ideas I have seen in this competition! Congratulations on making it this far! if my friends don't win this thing. I'm pulling for you guys for sure!
Each entry is different but builds of the next, good creativity here. I def want to see what you do next!
Naked Cowboy oooooOOOooo. Good excuse to go to New York City. This project has balls. Keep givin'er, Balls out!!! Great Cameo as well. love it. Screw da man!!!
Vous avec des super belles effets spéciaux et je le trouve drôle, mais je ne comprend pas vraiment votre concept.
Great job making top 55, There is some stiff competition out there and more than a few laughs. I think you will be in the Top 15 ! Good luck
yolo! like it. i really appreciate what you're doing here. youve got serious game and i have become a big admirer. you deserve to win this contest. you are definitely welcome to entertain me any time of the year. keep it up and be the people youve always wanted to be.
Dope Ass World great job and keep up the good work! It's great to see a show with attitude and nice to see some Montreal folks givin'er! Rock on completely! Cheers!
I love the idea of stamping your logo on leaves, that so cool! I can see that happening at folk fests now that you guys have made it a thing. I look forward to your videos, I can't quite figure out how you do a bunch of these stunts. The best part was the naked cowboy at the end.
Good job on the green marketing and your eco friendly flyers! Your team seems to be doing well in this competition, so good luck with the next round. I guess this is the next generation's 'this hour has 22'?
so hey, how come if we're doing a show in canada, you find yourselves in new york? that is america bro, but for real, you guys are funny. chris, i love you. you're my hero and so is daniel carin, why is he not in this show? keep it up yo, montreal represent
Way to go on your comedy coup efforts to date. You have succeeded in making it to the top 55 and that is something to be proud of. Already the competition is getting tough as the quality of the competitors gets refined. Best wishes for making it to the next level.
Definitely one of the edgier series on here. Interested to see how the show develops if it makes the top 15! Good luck in the next round!
This looks like it could be really entertaining actually. Hopefully the entire series isn't just all shock factor. The "leaflets" were top 5 though. Good luck in the rest of the competition.
Going to NYC and making jarring comments on camera.. its really raw! Wasn't expecting HALF the stuff that came out of this with respect to content. It's all over the place, but its also entertaining. Good editing too.
I'm not really interested in this. it seems contrived. I think there are more impressive pieces in this competition..
If you are receiving this comment then you are one of my top 15 favorites in this comedycoup.cbc.ca contest and you are congratulated for making the top 55 and doing a really good job on all the missions to date. That has been a lot of work so congratulations on your efforts!
You're sure getting lots of comments! I don't understand everything you cover, but I know your show is both a parody (religious pets??), and a social comment on our daily news. So in that regard, this idea is refreshing! I'm tired of the same old same old. Best of luck, Dope Ass World.
My top 15 in no particular order are:
Geoff and the Ninja, The Hill, How to do Everything Gooder, The Lease, Warf Rats, Dear Stella, Goons, Dope Ass World, North of Normal, Just passing through, The Batchelors, Buddy guys, The Dangers of Online Dating, Nanny Walbourne, Heir Heads.
Major players in this competition. I've followed you guys from the start and each video has been consistently well made and funny. I can't imagine this NOT being made. Good luck!
Dope Ass World you guys have been doing a Dope Ass job, Montreal teams are tough in this competition, good luck in the voting !! - Wharf Rats
i dont really "get" this kinda humour it seems very offensive and crude and i dont think that families would like to watch it. i also dont understand why you went to NYC if this is supposed to be a canadian competition. you should be showcasing the beauty of our own country not going someplace else. even though you WERE messing with the damn yankees over there lol
My Top 15 Picks are (in alphabetical order):
Bad Records
Bike Cops
Blackwater Records
Buddy Guys
Campus Law
Dead Air
Dope Ass World
Graham Clark: Wilderness Man
Heir Heads
HumanTown
Infinite Possibilities
Jobless
One Night Only

I like this one. It always makes me laugh. Sometimes the pace is too relentless. Maybe some variation would make things feel more effortless. Good hype.
I'm on the fence about this project, so far it hasn't really peaked my interest. For this mission, I also really wish you'd stayed in our home and native land rather than featuring New York.
It looks like you have a good following and support, though, so best of luck and I'll definitely check out what you put out there if you make it to top 15. :)
I think you covered the requirements mission top notch, great job! It's clear that you believe in your project and have fun doing it. It is just not a show that I personally would be interested in...so far. Maybe because I can check out zany or under-reported news on the net at any time- it's 'just there' on social media everyday whether I want to see it or not, lol. Good luck though
nailed it once again, guys. you always do. i cant believe you got the naked cowboyw hahah. the "eco-friendly flyers" gag was brilliant, and so was the "ebola/e-bullshit" pun. nice stuff.
I like that you're venturing outside of our borders and the maple leaf with your logo alone is an accidental genius marketing plan. I don't even think you know the gold that lies in that. It's fall, go stamp some leaves already. For a comedy show like this I am harkened back to Ali G, he nails it. Sasha Baron Cohen's characters are hilarious and the people he's interviewing are hilarious. We need higher stakes from a show like this. good luck
Interesting concept. I think it has a lot of potential. Keep it Canadian! The idea is sound and there is a lot of potential for a great story line. Keep the creativity flowing and I hope you make it to the top 15!
Lots of fun. I chuckled at 'my main bitch Mother Nature'. I also found it erratic, however, and didn't really understand why you went to New York to make a Canadian comedy video. Loved seeing the naked cowboy from Times Square, though, he's an old favourite.
dope ass world is very cool and funny and naked. love you all!!!
This was funny but I hope theres no copycat art destroyers out there! I enjoyed the naked cowboy bit!
It's funny, original, eccentric, erratic, and attention getting. It's also very "in-your-face" and occasionally straddles the line between being modern and fresh, and just trying too hard to be. It could attract a very strong cult audience, or just rub a lot of people the wrong way with it's abrasiveness. Depends on what you're trying to achieve, I suppose.
Not sure the erratic style of presentation did it for me. There was some funny stuff but the rest seemed like making fun of vandalism and mayhem. If the hope was to make me uncomfortable, it worked.
Very original and distinctive hype video. I agree with others that it would have been more effective for you to shoot locally however. Here's to national news!
ive been following you guys since the start and have always bene impressed week after week.. not sure why you filmed in the Big Apple NYC though because canada has so many lovely cities and this is a canadian competition eh but you know what it was still funyn and i definitely did laugh especially when you wrorte on starry nigth with a sharpie did you get in trouble for that maybe you might want to take the video down soon because the art museum staff might get really mad or like a professor would or something i dont know how the guards didnt stop you what good are they or maybe you could always blame it on another team lol
This clip filled my viewing time for the last 90 seconds plus the additional 15 seconds of CBC filler.
Nice job on the video guys.. your style of shooting video definitely is attention grabbing. I think the concept for the series has lots of potential for comedy and longevity. All the best from the east coast, and good luck making it into the top 15!
That was well done and made me laugh:)
I honestly hadn't checked out this project til today, because I thought it was just a series about stoners. Now I see it's about manic journalists ... who are possibly still stoners. ;). But it's a fantastic video, and a great hype. I will share and fave and follow!
Here are my picks for the top 15, no particular order:
Human Town
Heir Heads
Depflies
Wharf Rats
Just Passing Through
Goons
Blackwater Music
Randy Justice
The Lease
Grahm Clark: Wilderness Man
Roll for Damage
Toronto After Dark
Killing It
Scratch Tracks
Dope Ass World
I think a lot of these are more than boy shows for boys.
Boy shows for boys!
I like the eco-friendly mass marketing =) Not bothered too much by the American references, since you are, after all, a "News" show, I would expect to see things from other countries.
A bit torn. The Times Square thumbnail will definitely draw some people in (as it did for me). However, this is a Canadian contest and it would be nice to see you in Dundas Square(similar to Times Square) or some other recognizable Canadian landmark.
I feel that is the type of attitude that really limits Canadian media, Times Square is an internationaly famous location, why shouldn't we use it if we can? To constantly try and substitute a "Canadian" equivalent dilutes the impact. If you are Canadian and you made it that should be good enough.
i don't know if i would watch this personally. the main guy kind of annoys me, but that's subjective. you guys are obviously working hard and people seem to like it, so good luck
Lead dope ass newsman is entertaining. Your concept is original. Love all the crazy fun you are having. Enjoy, go nuts and we'll follow along and laugh. I wish you well making the next cut.
I wasn't sure what to make of it at first, I became uncomfortable with the scattered format. I then began to see some fun in it until you wrote on the Van Gogh with indelible ink. That's when you lost me completely
More Chris Sandiford! The man is a comedic genius. Seriously though...I truly think he is one of the funniest people out there and I vote more screen time for him! Congrats on the top 55
I found this really confusing and hard to follow. It didn't make a lot of sense and I lost interest in it very quickly and turned it off.
Lots of energy poured into this although I think you guys should have rehearsed your cameo actors to learn the proper name of your project. I haven't seen anything that convinces me that a general audience would enjoy to watch you on TV..i.e. the foul language, the crude gestures. Good luck anyways.
Saw the next clip and not quite sure yet if I would be interested in watching this show and seeing more. Loved your other videos and all info about you. Well done! Good job
Well that was exciting! Great way to get the audience's attention at the beginning of the hype. love your concept that you have, hope to see more.
Half the time watching your videos I'm not sure whether to laugh or cringe. Your unflinching ability to push comedic boundaries is living up to #beunexpected. This video was great. Good luck in the vote!
That is one of the best hype videos I've seen here! Love the eco-friendlymarketing pieces, brilliant! Also, DAW is already better than watching the news
I actually loved that you guys went to TImes Square (the media capital of the world!) the show is called dope ass WORLD! Not dope ass CANADA! tho i am excited to see our country in an episode soon!
Original concept and funny videos! Good luck in the next round and congratulations on making the Top 55!!!
I absolutely love your #screwthenews initiative. It is actually brilliant. I hope it goes viral, because the news really needs a good screwing. As far as marketing your show goes, you have done a fantastic job. Very creative, and very Canadian (yes, flipping the bird and screwing things is very Canadian). By the way, Stefan P, Vancouver is on the opposite coast. If anything, we're either buttf#ck California, or buttf#ck Washington.
yeah! loved the biodegradable flyers! religious pets? come on! my only 'critique' would be the new york shots. Can't we keep it in Canadia? Toronto is Manhattan and Hamilton is Queens. Montreal is obviously Brooklyn. Vancouver is buttf#ck New Jersey?
I thought you did a good job with this video. I really like the idea of the leaf flyers. Sell sheets neat too.
Good video. Kind of disappointing to see so many American pop culture references but that didn't turn me off from the message. Great idea with the eco friendly fliers. Makes marketing a seasonal thing though
Hey guys! In my opinion, there's something there... I don't know what you usually up to, but i can see potential and funny stuff. On the other hand, you're not that different from many sitcom that i already know, but you seem to have some good characters. I think you just need to go further with the characters. Good luck! by the way, sorry for my english, my first language is french! :)
this video was entertaining and stuck with the theme you have going nicely. I just wish there were more Canadian shots instead of new York shots. This is a Canadian show! good job though.
While I don't believe every project has to be super-canadian in every aspect, I find it a bit of a turn off that you're plugging the show from an American city.
This week's challenge was made for you guys. Your production value is so high and you nailed every aspect of your media grab.
You're an intimidating group and a formidable competitor (just remember that you don't have to rely on gorilla masturbation jokes - you have so much more to offer)!
I love the energy of this show! You guys seem like you're really having fun with all this and its making me have fun with it too. Dope Ass World is Dope! Keep it going! You got this.
When this is all over we should all go for a beer and just cuddle so, so deeply.
Loved that shot of the leaves from the back of the truck, and I like that the peepee-caca jokes are being toned down a little each week!
You guys are crazy and each week you bring it! Yeah you'll make the top 15 but if you don't something is really wrong here
Great video! I love the eco-friendly flyers too.
you guys are crazy!
Good one.
Loved it!!
Great concept, gotta say I'm not a fan of the name though. I like the idea of the news coming from a unbiased person, but it seems a bit over the top for me.
Good wild and crazy hype. There is some dope ass people out there so you will have lots of material. All the best to you in the rest of this competition.
Very good video this week. Unfortunately I don`t think I could sit through more than two or three episodes of this show. It certainly would not fit well on CBC. This is a MTV type show, and a good one at that. This video did stick very well to the goal and definitely explained the project. Good work.
Don't think I'd sit through a half hour, I like it but it's kind of one-note.
One episode of this & I think I would have had enough You seem to have a following tho Best of luck
this video was good because it stuck with the theme of your project very well. It had a lot of visually interesting shots and cameos from interesting characters. The sell sheet was also very well done.
Hahaha. The naked cowboy. Lol. Sounds like you guys like to have fun and would have lots of surprises in store for us. I like that your clip is fast-paced. Definitely not boring. Good luck in the competition.
Ummmm...no. not trying to be mean, but this just doesn't appeal to me. I'm sorry. But you have a lot of fans, so good luck!!
Goo Doope Assssss Wooorld! This hype, wow! Completely won me!!!
So glad to have discovered you peole, following the week 5's fan badges, having to comment on 5 more projects! Your's is great! Such good editing and fast action, yet totally comprehensible (what on earth does that word mean and why is it so complicated...isn't it supposed to be easy understand...able???)...now that was a long break...I was saying: yet totally comprehensible even from the first view! I only watched it 5 times because I simply loved the rhythm, tune choice, everybody in it and the intense humour!
Congrats, you're a fine, great, extremely proffesional and mostly - sooo funny team!
Hurry up to top 15 - we, your fans, want more more more from you!
For comedy's sake - Keep Up The Good Rhythm!
Pretty crazy stuff, great promo idea, flipping the bird to Dope Ass World I love that hype, hope you guys carry on, this looks pretty f*****g entertaining. (You maybe doing that a lot of this series airs)
Constructively commenting on your video for mission week number five. keep doing what you are doing and good luck.
This is too much like a This Hour but with a shock factor. The rapping has been done so much I don't get why people can't do something original. Congrats and good luck but I am really looking for something new.
Good luck in the competition. I am voting for another team but need to make constructive comments to get votes for them.
Not sure how original the concept is. You have some funny bits, but not sure that this is a show that I would watch week to week on air. Good luck!
Love the lack of fucks being given by this crew when they're out on the streets. I'd watch the show just for the antics. And the writing is also bang on. You guys got a good thing going here. Side note, I swear the Epic Meal Time guy is clinically depressed. That is not a happy camper.
I don't really know what to think of this. mocking the news could be humorous but it isn't something I am looking forward to I'm not really interested in any more of this but I'm sure you have many fans so rock on.
I don't really like this concept. so tired of spoof the news shows. it is done so much better in the states than in canada so I like that you bring focus to this.
good job. this video was well done and visually appealing. I just would have liked more Canadian touches than all of the new York shots. Cool but it is a Canadian contest.
You guys always have these little touches that bring your videos to a new level. This week, I think it was the leaf with your logo on it.
Good luck in the top 15.
Nothing says Canadian Comedy like New York City! haha. Great job on this weeks mission. Loving the sell sheet. Looking forward to more from you guys.
Mark
-Infinite Possibilities-
Great hype video and congratulations on making the top 55. Can't wait to see what you have planned for your future productions after you make the top 15. Good luck!
I'm STILL not sure what to think about this team, but I think it has potential to be pretty funny. Mocking a few different styles of newscasts or television shows might make it more interesting.
Super hype and crossing the border!
by far the best video of the top 55
Dope Ass World keeps coming out strong! However, can't help the niggling feeling that you're just adding more noise to an already too noisy world. I'd love to see Dope Ass World take on real issues and give This Hour Has 22 Minutes a run for their money.
I am definitely into what you guys are doing here. I think you are a little bit too heavy on the self-aware hipster side of the spectrum for me and would like to see that get toned down a bit. The Man on the street bits have potential to be funny and I really enjoyed the "Flipping the bird" bit. This reminds me of "The Day Today" and "The Brass Eye," but lacks that show's surreal genius.
Dope Ass World is going to be a tough project to beat but if everyone gave up, comedy coup would be so depressing it wouldn't be comedy anymore. the naked cowboy approves of everything except clothes
Nice video! Very entertaining! I love how you guys went out there and showed us all the different ways you are promoting your show - very cool! Good luck :)
Smart cookies over here at Dope Ass World! Dug it. Dig it. Digging what you're doing!
I'm intrigued by this video, but I'm not sure if it's a good or a bad thing. I mean I'm all for #ScrewtheNews, but what does this show actually do? I don't think they would get to air on CBC. I think this concept is a strictly FX or Webseries sorta thing.
Phew I am exhausted after watching that. So much fun packed into such a small amount of time!!! You guys are so creative. Flyers on leaves - brilliant. Religious animals. Tooo funny.
Very talented film making, without a doubt. I understand that is an attempt at satire, but I would recommend toning down the 'tudes of the journalist characters. The main guy especially comes across as super aggressive. Nice to see some diversity in the cast though! Definitely not common in these projects.
You guys are brilliant. Religious Animals? Eco Friendly Flyers? Love the production quality and the way you're engaging the fans. I did wonder about the NYC thing... sometimes it makes me feel like you're the Real World.
hahaha awesome! if it's $10 for HJ and only $25 for bj then how much for the combo?! i'm a big philanthropist. Also I wanna party with the naked cowboy! I feel like he might be able to teach me a thing or two!!!
One of the few videos that really went after getting some media this week. Love the idea of the hashtag and the aggressiveness of the video. I hope in the future you'll consider doing more here (why not hit Younge and Dundas square in Toronto or hang out by the giant Egg in Vegreville?) instead of hitting times square; the media outlets in this country could use a shake up as much as the ones down South.
Lots of great energy in this vid - though if I missed something forgive me, NYC? I thought this was a Canadian meet Canada kinda coup? International projections forsure.. though content Canada, yes? no? DAWorld, ok. But why not hit up a big city here? Nice promo cards on leaves!
I liked the on street interviews the most. I'm on the fence with this one. I think you guys are different and making great videos but so far, all of the fake news stories I've seen haven't been for me. Next week should be really interesting.
Great job. I am happy to support this project. Good luck making it to the next round. #HypeIt #ComedyCoupHype #BeHyperactive #100Characters
Fun concept. Been following some of these guys from their Boo Ya days and I have no doubt they have the ability to pull off an edgy and entertaining show. They have the ability to pull this off and shock people while keeping them laughing.
This is a great concept, and is one of my favourites. I wish you guys a lot of luck and if I wasn't also competing in the TOP 55 i would want you to win.....haha great job of incorporating your show concept into the the video.
You have some funny lines but not enough to keep me watching on a weekly basis. I cannot tell where this is going, it seems like just a bunch of one liners. Where is the content?
check out their differentiator video or sell sheet silly pants!
Great job guyz! Once again you hit it out the park. Keep swigging..!
Also LOVED that ending with that sexy cowboy
New York City is THE BEST! I saw a Summer slam there with Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Undertaker!! I also had a pretzel there! That naked cowboy looks like he doesn't eat a lot of pretzels!
Great video, definitely out there and different. I get how you explained your concept since I know what your concept is (as from your other videos, synopsis, etc), but if this video was meant to explain your show to the media I don't think the explanation was very clear. Also as for your Facebook event page it might be a good idea just to add EST to your time as so fans that aren't in the area can figure out when your event is.
now that's a hype video! great job! love the leaves flyers and of course Chris Sandiford.
Some lines are funny but think the concept would fade quickly.
So far I've been quite impressed with week 5 entries, Everyone has kicked it up a notch and so have you guys, Great start stealing the media mic!! I will try and tuned in to your Surprise Virtual Hangout Event Thursday!! Good Luck it`s gonna be a busy night!!!!
naked cowboy! I always though he was iggy pop. also- ever seen iggy and NC in the same room together? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
(INSERT DOPE ASS WORLD NEWS STORY INVESTIGATION!?!?!?!?!) yes, you're welcome.
This is really awesome work - way to score the dude from Epic Meal Time! Well played!!
interesting !
Dope ass vid guys!
A
the video was entertaining but some of the cameos seemed to cheapen it and put in place of real content.
Wooooo the cameo made me hungry... FOR SOME DOPE ASS WORLD! You guys have some solid energy fueling your video and premises. Loved the posters last week! Hope to see you guys make it through!
