It's November 7th at The Plaza Theatre, doors and drinks at 5:30pm, show at 6:00pm! Come ask questions, watch hilarious videos, and generally get involved with the Calgary ComedyCoup Teams!

this is quite similar to several other plots out there. some of the ideas are funny but do not seem original. maybe things will progress in a more interesting way.
I couldn't disagree more. I think that the projects that are left in the Top 55 all have something TOTALLY different going on. Not sure if you watched our other videos because I'm not sure how many projects (or even TV shows that are or have aired) have an invisible cleaning robot that doesn't fear humans or a GPS that threatens to kill you. If anyone would have any reason not to like this show it would be because it's TOO weird and different from what everyone has ever done. Thanks for watching though!
Although I don't live in or near Calgary, I do however appreciate the invite for the party, it does sound like fun. Great job sharing support in the Calgary community. Not sure I got the hype from this clip, but I'm sure the party will more than make up for it. Good luck!

Not sure this hit the mark for me, just as far as hyping it goes. I do like that you put some humour into the information that you put out. But I feel like this is more for a select audience.
Thanks for your comment Malcolm. The 90 second time limit has been REALLY limiting for us, we love writing long format things where the funny builds over time and we can bring jokes back over time. You'll find in the next video builds on what we've already shown!

Thanks Margaret! The picture actually came from when Kelsey (Brance) and I were standing on the other side of camera and the rest of the team was crammed against a door waiting to roll. It was HILARIOUS with all the stuff everyone is carrying so we jumped into the space with them in it and our AMAZING Key Grip/ Stills photographer Kaz jumped in and grabbed the shot. Glad you like it!!

It's great to be bringing the Calgary video teams together like that, and especially inviting people in to enjoy a party, but the video didn't cover what your series is actually about, which is the important part of this week's challenge.

The challenge that was given to us was to tell people why they should care about our project with ComedyCoup saying "You’re the heroes of this story, so what makes you special?(...) Do you have anything personal to share about what this project means to you, or the obstacles you’ve overcome trying to get it made?" Some teams took this as a pitch video part two, or another promo which we did not do because we had already done that. Thanks for your feedback!

an accomplishment to get together with other teams and hold a collective event, but the video doesn't give a whole lot for a journalist to go on as a media piece. nice sell sheet.
Our pitch to journalists came in the form of a press release, this video was more about hyping our event and promoting the other Calgary teams than telling people about our project. Glad you liked the sell sheet! Thanks for your comment Alex!
A great video provided what the mission asks for, but i agree with some commenters on here; could she been a bit more entertaining. Very thorough effort though!
Thanks Mark! Trying to convey a bunch of information is 90 seconds is SUPER TOUGH we realized so some of the funny ended up having to be cut sadly but the video we have done for Monday will totally bring the funny for you!

It's cool to see Calgary growing as an arts town, and the collaboration between teams. I'm a big fan of the Rosebud folks, and any event in a theatre sounds brilliant
Seriously, that glorified prop needs to know his place! haha! But yeah, lots of love to the Rosebud guys because they were right there with us planning the event, stupid scheduling conflicts!

That sell sheet is simple as can be, and that is a nice change. Sometimes over the top design isnt the right thing to do. Well done lads and ladies. Hopefully more of the same quality in the future.

Amazingly, this is one of the few "hype it" videos that's actually going above and beyond just using a video to create hype. By linking the video to a real live event in the city, pampering your loyal followers with booze, and teaming with the other Calgary groups as well, it shows a strong sense of leadership and community.

Interesting concept, i like it. It seems like it would be enjoyable for almost all ages, (except of course the during the useage of bad language and whatnot). Im a fan of the cast you've picked, all funny, however they need some work in a smidge of places. Good luck guys!
Thanks for your feedback Wanda! Our cast is amazing! If anything is lacking it's 100% because we gave them the scripts on set the day of and they winged it! We have been fortunate enough to assemble a cast and crew that I'm proud to call family. Whatever we throw at them they've just rolled with it and that's all magic and love. Our aim it to be very accessible to every age but we have an edge (just wait to see some of the backstory that's going to come out in the next few weeks!) These are fully formed characters and actors playing them totally embody them. I couldn't be happier with the people we have cobbled together. All I did was ask the most talented people I know to help me out and this is what happened, if that's not the power of storytelling and friendship then I don't know what is! Seriously though, some of the comments have me feeling real sentimental and I hope we make the Top 15 just to keep the family together. DO IT FOR THE KIDS GUYS! HELP US STAY TOGETHER FOR THE KIDS!
Can't wait for the Plaza bash. What a unique and wonderful idea to bring the Calgary pilot shows together. It's great that all the Calgary pilots will be represented but my votes only go to the best pilot which is hands down FICTIONS!

We deeply love the film community in Calgary and want to support EVERYONE making stuff here. We're growing like crazy and it would be amazing to have a TV show by Calgarians shot in Calgary! We've got a lot of service productions here but it's time for a 100% homegrown show to spread its wings and fly into the hearts of audiences everywhere. Or be like a chest-burster from Alien and BURST out of the hearts of audiences everywhere, you know, whatever works.

That's wicked you guys were able to film in a dental office for some of the shots. Location can always make the film really pop. The little things like that go a long way especially with the time restrictions for each weeks mission.
It worked out really well! Plus, pretty much the greatest Dentist of all time, he gave us treat bags after we wrapped filming. We couldn't have asked for more!

Actually, the video was supposed to promote the event and, as ComedyCoup said for the mission video "Do you have anything personal to share about what this project means to you, or the obstacles you’ve overcome trying to get it made? Always be asking yourself, why should we care about your story?" We mentioned the film studio and the other teams because that's what's important to us. I'm sorry that means you think we "lost this one."

We unfortunately didn't have the time to give this video as much pizazz as we would have liked but what this video lacks we will make up for in the next video. As a pyrotechnician, I can promise you, there will be explosions* (*note: they will be CGI explosions because blowing things up for realz is expensive) Thanks for the kind words!

Not one of my favourite videos. One of the plainer ones. For me it doesn't compare to the likes of "Campus Law", "Goons", "Heir Heads" and "Roll for Damage".
Don't worry Emilee, we don't need a bombardment of zippy one liners to sell this event. We have beer. Beer is like a baseball diamond. Sell it, and they will come.
love the promotion for your party event, you will definitely see me there! The video needed a bit more oomph to it, maybe someone juggling in the background? heh just kidding but I liked seeing the behind-the-scenes stuff, gimme more comedic content please!

this was a very informative video but I also found it a bit boring and I would have liked to see something more than just talking at a table. Good idea on mentioning your party in your video. sell sheet was well done.

What we lack in one liners in our video we will MORE than make up for with our event, which we will be live tweeting @FictionsTV. I promise you, we're hilarious. My mom told me.
Excellent promotion for the "PARTY". Looking forward to meeting all the teams that will be attending. The personal touch for promoting FICTIONS is the way to go.

I agree, GREAT sell on the party. As I have been following I see that you like to show us what you are about not tell us. I think that you used the teaser time well to promote the event where you can sell yourselves in person. Good job!
Thanks John! Working on a tight timeline with a key team member in another city isn't easy, but damn if we won't make all the rest of the videos gleam like the light of 1000 hilarious suns! That was a weird image and you should probably not thing too hard about it.
Great sell on your party, and very smart in joining up with other teams. I didn't really see how this video informed the media at all about what your show is about. I noticed that some media outlets already do know about your concept though, congrats with the Calgary Herald article. Your party sounds awesome, you could always add MST to your event page even though it is very clear that you guys are in Calgary. Have a fun night! I get that there are other Calgary teams, but should they really even bother? I just can't see any of these other projects coming out of the woodwork to look better than this one. Fictions for the win.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of a "behind the scenes" visit to the filming of Fictions. I am happy to report that the cast and crew not only work well together they play well together! They are warm, funny and polite. I cannot wait to meet them all at the "PARTY" November 7th at the PLAZA THEATRE. Also, looking forward to meeting the other Alberta Teams that are attending.
