Congratulations on making it to the Top 55! You guys are doing a great job. I really believe in you guys and want to see this thru to the end. Best wishes for making it to the next level.
I really like your name and concept I think it can be very relatable for a lot of guys out there, plus easy on the eyes ;) good luck in the upcoming voting!
This was funny to me. I am not into theater that much but I got this show as something different. I hope the tv show won't be on a stage though
Like the concept of what you guys are on about! Sounds like a fun idea with the three leads being well cast for it! Looking forward to seeing more of what is to come with the stories and writing that you guys have coming.
Your idea of goons getting a chance to write and direct their own show is unusual, and fun. So far what we've seen is clever and action-packed! I hope you guys can keep up the great work and earn more fans. Good luck.
you guys have been nailing your tasks and seem to have a lot of loyal fans. i can see why: week after week you are delivering consistently funny consistently strong stuff. keep it up
AHHH Once again such a blast, you guys are rocking it! I really really really want this puppy to make it to the big screen. CBC take this baby to the top!!!
as a not-quite-a-goon myself, i can certainly relate with the idea :) you seem young and hip and i think thats something the CBC can definitely use now adays!
I agree, time for the CBC to get shaken up with some good old fashion face punching and solid jokes. Well done goons.
it is my understanding that fans get to decide the teams and shows that move forward in this competition. Not sure how that will work.
Good luck in the competition…………..I am rooting for another team so I am sure you have your own fan base to help you out.
Looking great, I'm liking you more, action/comedy not done in TV much, but Jackie Chan rules this in the film world, bring it on, violent and funny!
I am constantly waiting to see what these guys do next. I really like that they get beat up probably more than they lay down an a$$ kickin'. They are memorable characters that seem to be irrelevant to the main script. That's what makes them so good!
Really love the wacky characters and funny situations this team is coming up with. Looking forward to seeing what happens to 'The Goons' next. Keep up the good work everyone!!!
Good to see you sticking to your guns on the violence. You must remain true to the vision you have for the show. Just want to have more laugh out loud moments and not just from nut shots.
My favourite two things about your project are:
1) Making usual throw away characters the focal point of the show
2) Using theme of physical comedy as your main driver. Physical comedy is always funny...it is always funnier when thing "happen," instead of being talked about that excited me about this project.
My one critique would be that, that style of comedy loses your female audience very quirky, if it gets too violent. I think the violence is funny within the context of moments being "stunts" etc. and doesn't seem like people are actually getting hurt on screen all the time.
Great job guys! Keep it up!
Loving the physical comedy you guys have in your vids, reminds me of modern day three stooges with a bit more gruff. Keep up the good work :)
I guess the three stooges and the keystone cops represent a comedic violence genre that this group could follow. I look forward to seeing more.
You guys have one of the best Ideas I have seen in this competition! Congratulations on making it this far! if my friends don't win this thing. I'm pulling for you guys for sure!
Thanks for the support Jason! :D
Love the concept . Funnt
It might be because I'm a sucker for this sort of "lousy henchmen" story, or it might be because I get a laugh out of B-grade A-Teams. Actually, now that I think about it, it's probably both. Anyway, I hope to see more.
Haha! The Goons are totally a B-Grade A-team...well, that might be generous. C-Grade...perhaps C minus. :P
at fist i thought this was that movie about that fellow from that movie with that fellow who has sex with the pie. but then i realized it's about those classic characters in movies, very interesting and original.
"at FIST i thought" Most appropriate Goons typo ever! Thanks for commenting :)
This is an interesting project.... unfortunately I do not think that I would watch it. Keep given' r though guys! Just give er buck ten out there and who knows.
well done on week 3 but I would have liked to have some more laughs.
Although most of us are too upright and pious to admit it, the "I wish I could just do something illegal to make some quick cash" is a not uncommon fantasy. It's always fun watching funny actors live out this fantasy in a comedic fictional setting, while also reminding us that "easy money" really doesn't exist!
Great!
Goons is looking great! I really like this week 3 vid. Seems very...Goons. Breaking Bad meets...The Office?
Very funny characters in a funny concept. I could see this being on television and hope to see a lot more of this team as the competition continues on.
Love the show boys, keep it up! Epic tunes too! More blood splatter would be nice :P
Talented group of young 'uns! You take minor characters and make them the focus, combining action, chaos, comedy and very impressive acting skills! Well worth the watching....
I think this show is different enough from everything else that it should win this challenge hands down!
WINNNINGGG
I'm not sure if what makes this show different isn't just a spin on what makes this show a little rough around the edges. I think that the concept is great and the people behind it are really on a good track, but I feel like when I am watching it that as a whole it needs more polish. Hopefully they will have the chance in future weeks challenges to really make this great concept shine.
You're absolutely right, Travis. And we're hoping that CBC and $500K can help us with that polish :) We're motivated, creative, and...well... WE think we're pretty funny ;) but having some studio weight and experience to take Goons to the next level is exactly what we're looking for.
I really enjoyed this video. I think the concept is there for sure and really liked how you explained what makes you different. It's original for sure. Thanks guys!
I am really one for visuals and I enjoy how you make your thumbnails similar but different for each mission, easy to see which one is yours from week to week, great strategy. I enjoyed this weeks mission, especially the fact they are named Goon 1-3, pretty funny.
Thank you! We really appreciate the positive feedback. Especially from an obviously discerning viewer like yourself :)
I really like your style it's funny but still lots of crazy action. Good luck with the rest of the competition and enjoy the ride.
Haha! Thanks, Jesse :) That's the idea.
Finally a team that actually answered the question of what makes them different. Attractive boys fighting, can't go wrong there ;)
Funny stuff, guys! And I'm not just saying that because I know you could all kick my ass! Hope you guys win this thing!
Aww man, i love this movie. Nothing more exciting than a bunch of kids going on a craaaazzzy adventure for buried treasure after finding a secret map, only to see their bond grow stronger while trying to evade their greedy enemies
I'm not sure what you're getting at but you sound happy so that's good! and it's more than a 100 characters so I hope you used your copy-paste votes wisely :)
So great getting an almost serious (yet not at all) description of your show. And Goon 1, Goon 2 and Goon 3 are excellent ways to refer to main characters! Names are overrated anyway.
Thanks Byrona, the whole no-name concept was actually an accident of early production. We never got around to picking names when we started the series for youtube and it never came up in writing or performance. A few episodes in we realized what we'd done and decided to stick with it!
No names! And the fight scenes are great! I love the cross cameos with Ranger Bay.
Thank you! We love the Ranger Bay folks and we're rooting for them too.
Love both of these people very much and love everything they do!! Great Video! Love the characters! Excited to see what you do next!
Thanks, Marc. We really appreciate the support :)
Cute video. Love the part with all the yelling and the sword, thats hilarious. I really enjoy that you're paying attention to what people are saying, but also staying strong to your original ideas. Good work!
Thank you! Gotta stick to your guns, right?... And your swords... and knives... and fists... and baseball bats... etc.
I love me some staged combat! We need more action comedies on TV! You guys did a great job selling the violence! Good luck in the rest of the competition!
Thanks, Fred. We agree! We really feel like Canadian TV could use a dose of action comedy. A country can only handle so much political satire, y'know? :P
No women?
Don't worry! There are! At 1:00 of this video, we show off a sneak peek of what the women of this show can do!
great action - it's clear to see you guys have fun, and I think it's smart giving them names goon 1, 2,3 - makes it ok to hurt them :)
So good. So, so, good. Just. So good. I actually want to watch this on TV. (Also, thank you for actually doing the challenge, doesn't seem like everybody did)
I like the energy and the set up. Was that a waiter being stabbed by the park bench? I will have to watch more to see how that came about. Great work, guys!
I think you're walking a fine line between funny and offensive. I would like to recommend a solution. Instead of good old fashioned violence, why not push things even further and start killing people with Team Killing It?
Seriously though, funny vid guys! Good luck!
Haha! We'll keep that it mind :)
I'm definitely pro funny violence so keep up the good...punching?
I love the idea of throw-away characters getting their moment to shine. Seems like a very funny concept and I love the action sequences. It's great to see an action comedy. Seems like physical humour has been non-existent lately. Way to bring it back in a very clever and unique way!!!
I found the joke at the beginning of your video quite funny about considering to tone it down in the violence. In all seriousness though, I'm not too sure how you plan to keep a show funny when your general intentions are to injure others. I think it's a really fine line between being funny and going a bit too far with the violence. Good luck with the competition though, I sure you guys can pull it off!
Great comment, Christina. We are writing the show in such a way that injury is never the primary goal of the Goons. They're just trying to make a living and it just so happens that the only marketable skills they've got are their fists :P Furthermore the violence is ALWAYS... ALWAYS there to serve the comedy, never the other way around.
Christina, every comment you make on this site is gold. I hope you end up the Uber fan or whatever it's called. You know your stuff.
Yay for more violence! Especially when creatively crafted and well timed as it is by your team. I love that you are giving the spotlight to typical side characters. I also think it is pretty exceptional how multi-talented the whole team behind this project seems to be. Major props for versatility. Keep up the great work!
I love the idea of the throwaway minor characters getting their own turn in the spotlight!
awesome video. And a cameo from a guy in Ranger Bay... Wow! I hope you beat that gorgeous looking, hilarious man to a pulp for interrupting... hey, more chips!
Thanks! We're all about collaboration...and chips...and beating ;-P
This was actually my fave from you guys yet, ending nailed it for me haha. We can relate to a show with nameless lead characters entertaining through violence (Geoff and the Ninja). Where do you find something to ground it outside of that though? Our concept has Geoff to balance Ninja, do you have any significant characters to balance the Goons, or are you going balls to the walls with it?
Great question, Jeremy. The majority of successful comedies always seem have at least one relatable character to ground the audience (Ann in Parks and Rec, Michael in Arrested Development, Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace). We're taking a slightly different approach where the grounding factor is the world. The Goons are larger than life characters that exist in a real world. Many of the people they meet will be other colorful types but the general environment and the average people living in it will be true to life. As for the Goons themselves, Goon #1 played by Malcolm Masters is the most level headed and will provide some foothold for the audience.
Keep up the good work guys! For those with negative comments: have you never seen a Three Stooges episode?!
You guys are great! I really like your idea. "Throw away" characters can be great parts of shows or films! Would totally watch a show based off this!
I'm really looking forward to this one. While technically the show about throw away characters has been done (Space Janitors, for example) they always tend to steer towards them becoming main characters, whereas yours definitely looks like it's avoiding that. (Them not having names really sells that) That's going to make it very unique.
Love the set up and the energy. Was that a waiter being stabbed by a park bench? I will have to watch more to see how that came about. Nice work!
Thanks Nicole, thats the idea :-) we really appreciate the support.
