An optometrist has a change of heart when she realizes she wasn't following her passion: comedy.
View ProjectWhat is really "original" and "different" in comedy? The team of "Hindsight" explore the answer!
Fave 20 Views 264Love it! Maybe we could see a Rachel puppet in an upcoming mission? Even though you are so comfortable in front of the camera...

I would like to see your pilot. I thought your Show Teaser was engaging and I like that this is a totally different point of view that I've never seen before. I'd also like to see your stand-up. ;-) j.
Yeah good concept. I think I'd like to watch some more of these shinanigans. Like the puppet and also the name hindsight. Seems ligit. Too bad about not making the top 55.
Congrats! This is a cool concept. It has potential. Good work on getting things done!! Hope you make it further.
Thumbs up from me!
Clever.
nice and funny stuff. I have family that are in the eye doctor business and I could see them being stand up comics or comedians in general too. look forward to seeing more of these videos. good luck in this round!!!!!!!
I think more people in the medical profession need to get a sense of humour! I look forward to seeing more of this project. I love quirky comedy.
Oh no way! I can't believe there isn't a show that hasn't had the main character and optometrist!!? The only character I can think of is Richard from friends... his moustache is awesome.
Clever concept. I liked the typing comments beside the comedian talking. Definitely interesting!
Thanks for the comments! Glad you liked it!
You shot a pilot and showed it to who? Just trying to understand how you know it works? Cute video, wishing you all the best the rest of the way.
We shot a pilot episode to gain experience on how to write, organize and create a show from beginning to end. When it was all done, it looked amazing and was very funny. We have taken the pilot to the Banff World Media Conference where it got great feedback and we also had a successful Indigogo campaign where we showed the pilot to a live audience with again, a great response. Thanks for the comments and support! Totally appreciated!
I have never met a stand up optometrist. But now that I know there's already a pilot out there in the world I wanna watch it so I can see what I'm getting into!
Thanks for the comment, Trevor!
I don't really like self-deprecating humour. I see what you're going for, but this is when you should tell me why I should like your video over the others, not telling me "I have a fanbase of 1" or "I'm not like these shows but the good thing about my show is x which isn't really unique because it's in these other shows, here's a list of all of them".
We were doing a take on the fact that there really is nothing new and original in comedy. Pretty much everything you think is original has been done in some form or another in the past. We used the idea that there seems to be a formula to what has worked in the past for comedy shows and how it relates to ours. Hopefully that helps explain what we were going for. We'll try harder to reach you next time, Sarah!
It's such a great concept: optometry plus stand-up comedy. How could it not be funny? Keep up the good work Rachel, Eric, and rest of the team! I'm looking forward to seeing this.
Thanks Michael!
very well done, interesting and funny. I hope to see more from you in the future. Good luck with the competition
Thanks for the support!
I would have liked to see a bit more human interaction. each scene brought something to the table but not enough. Maybe adding some better scene cuts would do the trick.
Message received! We are working on that for our next video. Thanks for the feedback!
I like how you explained how the show is different
Thanks!
I like the self-depricating typewriter character in this video. As some of your other commenters have mentioned, you have eluded to a pilot you have already shot - are you holding it back for the end? Or will you show it earlier?
Also, this is the only video I've seen so far that reminds people at the end to rate, follow, etc! smart.
Thanks for the awesome feedback! We have not decided on where the pilot episode would fit into the Comedy Coup scheme of things. We'll have to see what the next few weeks brings! And, I give Eric the full credit for adding the vote at the end. He's the man! Best of luck with your project- it looks awesome!
true!
i had some problems with playback idk if it was the site or my wireless but anyway I really admire your poise and confidence and I would love to see the pilot. Is it available online?
Thanks for the great feedback! As of right now, the pilot is not available online. But, hopefully you'll get to see it through Comedy Coup!
Love it! Maybe we could see a Rachel puppet in an upcoming mission? Even though you are so comfortable in front of the camera...
Not going to lie, I would love a puppet version of myself! I would train it to test eyes and go to work for me. Oh wait, that was my monkey idea. Maybe if you are lucky, you'll see a naked puppet version of myself in an upcoming video.
Good luck, Rachel!
Thanks for the support, Brenda!
definately would love to see a show with a female lead, but im not sure f the jokes are strong enough to get you guys to the top 5.. maybe for your next video, show us as many jokes as you can fit, and really push home the fact. I felt like this video was too much talking nd not enough funny... the type on the side was kind of irritating. BUT GOOD LUCK!! I believe in you!!
Excellent feedback. We have taken this on board to apply to our next mission video. Thanks!
Good strong female role ! I'm very interested in seeing where it goes ! good luck
Thanks Tracy!
I like the main character and her receptionist and believe the show has plenty of potential. In your teaser video, the slip/legs bit was funny. Good stuff, although you might want to pick up the pace a little.
Thanks for the comments! We will work on the pacing for our next video!
Looks like a great show. It is very original. I like the fact that the show has a strong female lead. I feel
I can really relate to Rachel. Can't wait to see what is up for next week. Good luck, I hope you make the top 50.
Thanks Bonnie C!
I enjoyed this video, how you kept it simple yet still funny. It would have been nice to see a bit more of the actual show though, and since you guys seem to already have a pilot made that seems like it would have been fairly doable. Good luck with the competition!
Thanks for the comments, Christina. We are already working on adding in more of the pilot into our videos. Great suggestions!
Very funny! Hope you make it to the top 50.
Thanks for the encouragement!
can't wait for next week!
Me either, Mike. Me either. Thanks for the comment!
Funny people, funny concept. Would love to see more of this show! This would definitely be a unique perspective on Television that hasn't been explored yet. Well done.
Thanks Sabrina! Your comments are very much appreciated!
I've worked with Rachel before. She's an incredibly funny stand-up comedian. Her writing skills clearly translate very well to this genre. With her at the helm, this is guaranteed to be a very funny show!
That is very kind. I'm rooting that your project gets greenlit. Someone from Winnipeg has to make this! Go hilarious Winnipeg comics!
More females in film is a win for me!
A
Tell me about it! Thanks for the comment!
They're looking for creative criticism this week so here goes! :)
Love the concept and the name, win win! My inner nerd was hoping for a bit of sci-fi time travel or something due to the name.
I would love to see a scene from your pilot to see how original and different it is. Are you allowed to show the opening setup in your pilot? If not how about another scene from another episode that lets me connect with the characters and give me a taste of what's to come?
Feel free to return the criticism at http://wingmom.ca
Best of luck on the Top 50!
Thanks Darcy! HINDSIGHT is not really sci-fi time travel but more like 'if you knew then what you know now' kind of situation that we all have faced in our lives. Sorry to disappoint your inner nerd :) We are looking at working in more clips of the pilot we shot into our videos so people can get more of a feeling of the show. Thanks for the comments! Totally appreciated!
