Story Influence: Futurama

Story Influence: Futurama

"Futurama" is an American sci-fi cartoon that ran for 7 seasons. It's parodying and satirizing of pop culture and traveling to different and new worlds is a major influence on the format of "Infinite Possibilities".

Style Influence: Spaced

Style Influence: Spaced

(We couldn't find a high quality photo for Spaced, sorry). "Spaced" is a British TV series created by Simon Pegg and directed by Edgar Wright (They both made "Shaun of the Dead" together, so it kind of makes sense to have that picture). Point is, Edgar Wright has a very distinct and energetic way of shooting and editing a scene. Snap zooms, frantic cutting, all that good stuff.

Character Influence: Jermaine & Brett

Character Influence: Jermaine & Brett

Jermaine & Brett, from the cult favorite American TV show "Flight of the Concords", are an unusual best friend combo. Having no one else but each other, they rely on one another, but that doesn't mean they're loyal. Such is Charlie and Glenn.

Character Influence: Liz Lemon

Character Influence: Liz Lemon

Liz Lemon (portrayed by Tina Fey) was the lead character of the acclaimed American TV series "30 Rock". Simone is a tricky character, and an actor's dream, as who she is changes with every week, but her essence is the same. A bumbling, nerd that thinks she's smarter than what she actually is. A line could be drawn between Liz Lemon and Simone...if you're the type of person that like to draw metaphorical lines.

Effects Influence: Red Dwarf

Effects Influence: Red Dwarf

"Red Dwarf" is a massively successful and influence British sci-fi comedy series. If you've seen the "Infinite Possibilities" teaser, the effects influence of "Red Dwarf" is easily seen. Actors in monster suits, computer graphics from the 80's, practical effects. Viewer, you love it as much as we do.

I thought you guys approached this one from a different angle. a very risky one. we'd like to think that everyone will "get" what we're doing, but some people just wont and judging for the response, I think it cost you a little bit here. I thought the video was hilarious, I think you nailed the point and I appreciate the risk, that's what true comedy is all about.

Nothing like a little bit of dirty humour. This is the first group I have come across to use dirty jokes. I thought it was pretty funny but it might have been a little too much with the woman and her vagina. but that might just be me. I like what they did with the choreography in the hallway but I think it could have been done just a bit more smoothly. Its clear that this group loves making jokes and I can tell that they will continue to think outside the box, which is a great sign. Looking forward to what they throw at us net.

Hey Scott, glad you dug the callback joke and thanks for your note.

I suppose we wanted to try something different this week as the universe of the show had already been established.

Thanks Tracy. It's been really cool to hear about the other shows we're reminding people of.

As for not knowing where to end, that's one of the tricky things about working on a network TV show. Sometimes the creators don't have a say when the story ends.

I can tell you that we have a solid three season arc, with some twists that no one will see coming. Along side being funny, story and plot is the most important thing for us.

I am interested in this concept. It's an east coast entry not leaning so heavily on the fact that it's an east coast entry. Not saying I don't love the Maritime Provinces (and I do appreciate a little bit of provincial pride) but I feel like some of the Maritime entries will have a hard time separating themselves from The Trailer Park boys despite being from completely different provinces. This concept, on the other hand, won't have that problem. And I would love to see CBC pick something up with a bit of a supernatural adventure involved. It's tough to answer the call of these missions and make everyone happy but it's the Canadian Sci-Fi element that tickles my fancy.

I'm still pretty unclear on what your concept is, even after reading your synopsis. I was hoping that this video would clear that up a bit for me. All I took away from this video is that your show will make a good series as it is full of jokes. I'm not sure if the type of jokes you are using here would really be great for a prime time TV show, but maybe it's just not my type of humour. Good luck with the competition!

More dick jokes?? Seriously? Must be a Maritime thing? Some of your eastern contemporaries in the Coup are also relying on the same gimmick: the male penis. I guess in a sense this differentiates you from the rest of the vids, but between all of you, let it be a warning: the best dick joke of all time has already BEEN told on TV: final ep of Season 1 on HBO's comedy "SILICON VALLEY". perhaps some education on the topic is in need. It would be advisable before any more phallic jokes are to be attempted moving forward.
