Synopsis

MAPLE U will be the first sketch comedy show to not only have great sketches laced throughout the show but also to have a compelling story with the characters behind these sketches. This show will bring the funny to the lives of University students and then hit you with hilarious sketches within the show itself. The students will be very relatable and their experiences will feel unique and exciting. MAPLE U will be two amazing comedy stylings put into one.

Amir Chang

Director, Showrunner

Amir Chang is a post graduate student from the prestigious New York University Tisch School of the Arts. He has been reviewed by his peers and mentors as one of NYU's most interesting directors. He has an unhealthy obsession with Nintendo and loves long walks on the beach.

Justin Delhon

Writer, Producer

Justin has recently graduated from the Writing for Film and Television program at Vancouver Film School. Justin performs stand-up comedy and also partakes in storytelling competitions in Western Canada. Justin draws his inspiration from television shows like Seinfeld and Saturday Night Live. Justin believes in life "you gotta risk it for the biscuit".

Brett Farquharson

Producer, Talent

Brett graduated from Concordia University College of Alberta with an emphasis in Theatre. He currently works at the university as a Student Experience Advisor and does weekly video blogs to highlight happening things around the university. Brett has an incredible comedic timing and brings passion to every project he works on.

I like the content and the friendly faces of the group. It will be interesting to see a comedy show based on the college/university students. Ethnicity and culture is what makes Canada. I like the title Maple U. Canadian eh!

The writing and editing of these pieces are superb. You can tell the team behind Maple U spends a lot of time figuring logistics behind all their shoots as oppose to just placing a camera and recording. Good luck boys!

This seems to have the potential to be very funny. A diverse cast and quite honestly some of the most successful and hilarious comedic acts play on racial stereotypes (Russell peters, kevin hart, etc). MapleU appears to understand its demographic and its one that will attract a large viewer base.

There's a lot of sketch comedy so it will be hard to stand out. A developed character set like you have will go a long way
