Nanny Walbourne loves to see old friends and new faces everyday - and it's where she can break out her classic charm! Watch Nanny make comedy in her interaction with the people she sees everyday!
Fave 30 Views 730Hey guys, I'm Rachel from "Table Scraps". Really liked your teaser video. I watched all 285 of them within the first couple of days of the acceleration. Only 82 including our own, I thought had potential or deserved to move onto the top 100. But yours....yours was the only one that actually made me LOL!! Seriously. I was laughing hard about it for days. I had the song stuck in my head for a few days as well. Lol. Anyway, hope you make it to the top 50! Cheers.

this is quite similar to several other plots out there. some of the ideas are funny but do not seem original. maybe things will progress in a more interesting way.
Really great nanny concept and unique character! Nice to see some great new Canadian ideas coming out through this competition! Definitely made me laugh, her faces are hilarious!
I think the main character is interesting and the concept is not necessarily new, but a twist on other nanny shows. You make me have some laughs for sure, not sure if I would be able to watch this every week though...
Good luck!
Very entertaining character and well put together! i think alot of people could fall in love with Nanny walbourne. Congratulations on making the top 55. I look forward to seeing more from this team :) Best of luck for the top 15 vote!
Why does Nanny simply make me laugh simply by looking at her mugshot. Very funny. Love the central character. Lots of potential for giggles.
Quite the competition from the east to the west coast and such an excellent group of participants makes it hard to pick just 15. I hope CBC gives you each a coffee mug or something for getting to the top 55. Best wishes to all.
Congratulations on making the top 55! Your project looks really funny and makes me interested to see more.
Nanny W. Looked like an interesting character with a lot of opportunities for bringing out the funny in everyday life. Not afraid to point out the potential kicks in being an old fart. Looking good.
this is really funny kinda reminds me of mrs doubtfire i love all the magazines in her mailbox its so accurate lol lots of clever little jokes your project is unlike any of the others in the competition keep up the great work and good luck
If any project can claim to be different--it's this one. I think people would really like this. I've enjoyed all your videos thus far--I look forward to more! Well done.
a lotta people seem to really like this, and i can more or less see why. it definitely has a lot of potential but maybe a bit too much of a nanny mcphee vibe. thats just my opinion though.
Great nanny character, love the accent, but not sure a whole season of this would be worth watching. video quality seemed mediocre at some points.
I love the character of Nanny. There is a lot of potential for some crazy adventures for her. Keep the the great work and the interesting story line. I will be watching for more!
Definitely different! Great video! Shows us how unique your guys' stuff is. The lead role was perfectly cast. I'm looking forward to seeing how far this project will go. Good luck with everything and I hope to see you guys more!!
Very sweet lady. I like the small town feel. Nanny seems like family, maybe an aunt or grandma. Positive thoughts are her only action. Loved by her community. Very uplifting.
Congratulations on making the top 55. your project looks like Mrs. Doubtfire goes to newfoundland. Robin Williams certainly did a nice job on that one and we'll miss him so your tryijng to capitalize on that was quaint.
Congratulations on making the top 55! Your project looks really funny and makes me interested to see more.
I can see how you are different, that's for sure. Very silly and creative idea that you have going on here. Good luck on your progress throughout this competition.
Very creative-I love the character, the actor's so charismatic and enthusiastic he gets you excited just watching. Interesting take on the typecast character as well-different from what I would expect. Despite it being a bit of a canadian version of the show 'nanny' already, I still like it.
Love the character, and the actor plays it well, however I wonder if this is more of a localized show, seeing as at some points its hard to understand what is being said.
I cant help but fall for Nanny Walbourne lol i think her accent is brilliant and the actor seems very comfortable in his character. The skateboard scene made me laugh and i like how you ended the mission. I look forward to seeing more from this group. Cheers
Reminds me of my own Nanny. Also, makes me want to pack up and move to Newfoundland. I loved the skateboarding bit; I'd love to see the whole scene there.
I started laughing at the skateboard scene and didn't stop, good stuff
Loves to see Nan in the top 55! Looking forward to seeing more of her in the weeks to come. Good luck, team!
Her patter and expressions are awesome as is her personality, but it is the subtler aspects of movement that make the drag wear thin. I don't think it will make it to top 15, sorry.
Hahaha I've spent a lot of time on the Rock, and I had a newfie grandmother. This is bang on!
I would love to meet the inspiration for this character. Great acting. Good luck in the top 50.
Funny!!!
Funny - somehow seemed familiar ------ accent, male playing female - great work though! Great to see all the talent that Canada has across the country!
Funny can't Wait to see more.
I like the character but I don't know if I could watch an entire show on her. It seems more suited as a character that appears on a show instead. I'd have to see more of the other characters on the show
I definitely like the character & the sense of humor. Not sure if there'll be enough content to carry on a full comedy series. However, I'm still very interested to see where it leads so best of luck.
I definitely laughed but it is a bit confusing to follow and a bit hard to picture what this show would be like on a weekly basis. I think this is funny though and maybe throughout the missions it will unravel well.
Strong cultural references tied into a solid iconic figure will be a hit in Newfoundland. Best of luck in the competition
I'm not so sure that there is enough substance here to actually sustain a weekly TV show. I'm still a little confused as to what the show is even about. I just see this nanny walking around town. Maybe you can clarify the premise of the show in subsequent videos.
I still do not understand what your show is about. Is it supposed to be like a reality show of this old lady? I think it is a funny character but what if it was more like a Mrs. Doudtfire where she had her own show but it was geared towards adults and adult humor.
This woman is funny.
You have lived up to my initial expectations! Hope you can keep up the momentum. Good luck with the voting this week!
Funny. Reminds me of mrs browns boys
I like it and want to like it more. Just seems a bit too close to other marks and other than the Newfoundland charm looking for something to set it more apart
Really like this idea. I just want more Nanny Walbourne! She's so charming and fun. Like Mrs doubt fire in Canada. Good luck Nanny!
Nanny Walbourne on a skate board! Too funny. Maybe there's hope for me. I had a little trouble understanding the dialogue, but that's probably just me. Haven't a clue what salt beef could be, but I like getting a look at life in another region in this big country of ours.
This was not what I was expecting, which makes it all the funnier! I encourage you to keep it up and keep it going. Lots of laughs in a classic manner....
Hi Nanny Walbourne, nice to meet you and charming to be in your home and follow you around the town. Even though the old man in drag doing the old woman is classic comedy and for my funny bone has always worked. I can see how you could expand on this with her traveling around not only her town but all of Canada and dealing with our diverse cultures. I have had the privilege of living in Nfld for 4 years and grew to appreciate the people and their culture and enjoy getting snippets of it when I can. I can see where the accent could be a wee problem for some. It took me awhile to a-tune my ear to it when I was there. Perhaps flatten it out a bit for those who are not a-tuned to it. Do you remember the short lived Nfld. comedy, "Hatchin', Matchin" and Dispatchin'. Hilarious concept and cast. But in my opinion it didn't go main stream because the average person who hasn't been a-tuned to the Nfld. accent didn't get a lot of the dialogue. Pity.
So you GO GUYS.......good luck.
Oh and you had me at the skateboard scene......too funny :-).
This seems like the same old man pretends to be old lady show, Mrs Browns Boys has the market on that right now. Sorry not different at all.
this is already like an irish tv show missus browns boys nothing new to me
Funny characters, well work! I'm not sure if this would be a good concept for a real Tv-Show, need more dialogue and action.
I'm sure you can find your way in this competition.
Good luck!
Great stuff... I want Nanny Walbourne to come to my town.
Nan!! where's me caramel log!?!?!?!?
Mrs. Ole'Troutfire! I love her and want more!
Haha looking at those behind the scene pictures and following her tweets is delightful.
I wish she was my nanny. This group is sure to make the top 50!
Shades of Robin Williams as the Newfie Mrs. Doubtfire. I'm sure he'd be pleased that you're carrying the torch! Us Western Canadians envy the community support of the Maritimers. Best of luck with the project.
What a great character and a ton of fun.. Your community must just adore you.. Good luck with the rest of the competition..
Love it! Your awesome Allen!
Nanny Walbourne has a great laugh! Possibility for some real shenagins. Everytime I'm out east I go out for some live comedy and music, the wise cracking old lady in drag is a classic. Keeping up the tradition!
I agree with other posters that there is potential here! I see a few people drawing comparisons to Mrs. Doubtfire, and I get that, but I think there is opportunity to differentiate more. Maybe throw in a bit of Chris Farley playing the lunch lady! :-) Nicely done!
I have two great loves, sassy old ladies, and drag queens. You’re combining my two loves. People seems to adore information shows – we loved when Marg Delahunty interviewed the political folks and we love seeing Mike Rowe interview regular joes, and Rick Mercer exploring Canada on a person-by-person basis– there could totally be a place for Nanny Walbourne in this pantheon of info-comedy shows.
However, how will you avoid letting the show get stagnant? How will Nanny Walbourne, should you win, continue to innovate and interest your viewers? Will there be any story of “Nanny” or will each episode stand alone?
Reminds me of a Newfoundland Dame Edna. I'd watch this as an interview show without a doubt.
Fun stuff. Right off the bat a Newfie accent triples the funny!
always the best.
good stuff!!
Good Luck Nanny Walbourne!! you have my vote!!
Pipers coupons. Love it.
Great character work on this! I like what you are putting out there, pretty amusing. Keep up the good work!
I love Nanny Walbourne! Mx
I disagree with some other comments in that I see no trouble expanding this to a weekly TV series. Nanny Walbourne's personality likely lets her get away with even more than Rick Mercer. Let's see her at a news event or trying out some classic Canadian jobs.
You play this character so well and I adore her.. Need more in order to pump out story after story week after week. But the energy is great and I'm sure you'll figure it out.. You wise old woman you..
I agree with other comments that this would make a fun web series or short film. Maybe try adding in some more key characters in order to develop the concept further.
this is a cute idea. You have the accent down. I like the little Canadian touches as well. I am just not sure if this idea would interest and entertain me enough to tune in every week for 30 minutes. It was an entertaining video though.
I would like to see Nan out on a boat, or dressed up for Halloween, giving out candy to the neighborhood
kids. Nan, there's more to life than shopping!
I would have to agree with Deanna on this one. It seems like you've just taken Mrs. Doubtfire and are trying to to make a series out of it. I don't think it's on the same level as Mrs. Doubtfire though. I'm not sure if this could make it as a series. It kind of seemed that around 45 seconds you also lost your accent. Good luck with the competition though!
I love this and uour character! I think it would be a scream if you upped the ante and tried to spea to a member of parlement or a Canadian idol like Brian Adams! Lots of fun ;-)
it seems to be a trend now to have a guy playing female character, like the wing mom; i think she is funny , but i wouldn't want to watch her for 22 mins though; but will be a good idea for short film or a sketch
The production value is there but I couldn't watch this for 30 minutes. She is a funny character though and it seems like you've been developing it for a while
I can see that you guys put a lot of work into the show and develop the character. though, i don't know if i can watch the whole season though...
I am always keen to see any Newfoundland comedy. Like the nanny concept but 'she' isn't the most convincing gran. The accent needs a bit more work to really sell her.
Nice to see a good, clean comedy that would make people of all ages laugh. Nanny Walbourne is a funny character that's executed perfectly. Would love to see what other kind of shenanigans she could get herself into!
So funny!
"Oooh me Gawd I'm skateboardin'! Jaysus"
Absolutely charming! So happy to come along with Nanny again today, such a sweet and honest character. Keep up the good work!
I love many things Newfoundland and espcially accents...Codco being an old favourite. There is potential here!!! Good luck.....
I agree with some previous comments. Love the character... you definitely have charisma and an entertainment factor... but I need something more to sustain an entire show. Right now it feels a bit like the news desk character that comes on to some other show as a guest star. What makes this lady the centre of my attention?
I love you, Nanny Walbourne! You make me smile. If you ever find yourself in Halifax, pop in and we'll put the kettle on.
Nanny Walbourne needs a decent night on the town. Can you take her to Argyle st. or a snazzy place like the Bitter End for a Chocolate Martini!!
Nanny Walbourne cracks me up! I can't get enough of her. What a loveable character. I enjoy seeing her interact with randoms on the street but I would love to see her with an objective of some sort.
i don't know about this show
I think the story is kinda cute, but i don't think i can watch the whole 22mins of the show just yet. interesting to see whats coming next
Cute idea. Not very original though. It is pretty much a copy of Doubtfire with a Canadian twist and not quite as funny. It grabbed my attention but I don't think it would keep it as a sitcom.
