Week #1 Show Teaser Phoning It In

What if you had to go back home? Phoning It In is a work and life-place comedy about two siblings who gave it their all in the big city, and their all wasn't good enough. They've had to swallow their pride and come crawling back to their small hometown of Welland, Ontario with their tails between their legs. Now they're back applying to work in the same call centre they left after high school.

Synopsis

Failure is not an option. But that won't stop brother and sister Josh and Alice Tanguay's careers from complete and utter collapse. They have to crawl back home with their tails betwixt their legs, lick their wounds and that's pretty much all that they can do really. The year is 2008, a heady time for unemployment or sucking it up and taking whatever life-saver job you can get. No big city, no big career, no big circle of trendy hipster friends, just a douchy stoner boss they knew from high school, Mr. Kevin Corkum (Kevo to his bros). We're dealing with the real world here people, and mining the comedy of mediocrity. When it's between "Go big or Go home", these two “choose” to go home.

Nicolas Watson's Profile Image

Nicolas Watson

Nick Watson rocked out a couple of high school sketch movies which gave him a taste for writing. He followed that up with a degree in English and Film where he helped write and produce an on campus soap opera, and fourth year short film. Since Uni, he's been working in the financial sector, visiting pubs and had a family. So I guess he can chalk that up to research.

Call centers are big in Welland, so this project highlights a major employment opportunity as well as other benefits of Welland, as well as focusing on certain individuals.
