The Fruit Stand is based on my real life experience working at a computer repair shop. It's relatable and I think people will really enjoy it. It's created by me (Matt O'Brien, a stand up comedian) and also features my good friend and fellow comedian Graham Kay, so we know it will be a good time. Thanks for watching and supporting The Fruit Stand!
Fave 14 Views 242Hey Christina O! First off my tone was not to offend, I'm strictly coming from a place of humour, such is the point of this whole thing I'm sure the CBC would understand. As for stand up clips, two 1 second clips of literal noises on stage I figured wouldn't hurt anything and would add to the humour of the video, which as said earlier, is something I think is paramount in this ComedyCoup. And finally as for being "careful with the humour" I will have to politely decline such advice and hope that people everywhere are never "careful" with their "humour". Thanks for checking it out!

I really laughed when i watched your videos I can just imagine all the stuff going on on this job. Good work we will be following you. Good luck on your next video.
Great stuff, Matt!
cool idea guys, good luck in the voting and making it to the top 50. I think this is great for anyone who is into the tech world or the workplacey and theyy will have an easy relate to the characters and the stories!!!!
I'm curious about this one. It seems relatable enough, and workplace comedies are a proven model, but this project has the added bonus of not having been done before. Lead actor is great, balancing manic and deadpan perfectly.
This is going to be great. Very creative and interesting concept. Tech shows are super hot right now. I like the main character he's cute and hilarious. I like how simple the concept of the video was. He told us why this will be great show and I want to see more.
Good luck during this week of voting. Keep up the solid word and I'll be looking forward to seeing what you guys do next.
A bit absurd. Worth a watch. Grabs your attention in a unique way. It has endless opportunities for entertaining storylines.
this week three video did not give me a sense of how this show is going to be funny or different. Keep working.
Never thought the show title Fruit Stand would be about computer repairs? Where did that come from? and how are you going to make it funny and entertaining as a show?
I can appreciate the humour as I am not the most tech savvy, but I wonder how this would play out over the course of twenty two minutes and in turn over the course of an entire season.
thanks for checking it out! The season is already written and I can assure you it plays out, sprinkled with interesting characters, gags, you name it- it's a show for show.
The Fruit Stand is a unique title that I would never have associated with a computer repair shop. Interesting. I can see that a computer repair shop idea would be relevant to a lot of people and therefore could create some funny scenarios.
all true things! thanks for checking it out!
I love the MOB! As Black Sabbath once said with Dio as the front man… MOB RULES! Great work and keep being a one man wrecking crew!
The Fruit Stand is a great concept, and Matt O'Brien is a god damn national treasure. CBC, put him on TV now, because he's going to get snatched up soon. Do it!
I thought it was good and the idea for the show is a relateable one that obviously any person would identify with. We all have computers right! Good stuff.
I hope Sam Neil (Dr. Grant from Jurassic Park) guest stars (based on your true story).
I find that you are very funny and probably very good stand-up comedian. yes this idea is relatable to a lot of people. Lots of misadventures can happen in a computer repair shop.
Confused, annoying, and/or clueless customers? You'll never run out of those.
Bring it on.
Good concept. Very relatable for viewers!
thanks for checking it out!
like the name, like the concept. A computer shop could be "ripe" for comedy with the right characters. Best of luck moving forward and thanks for helping me get more votes by having a project for me to comment on.
I agree, I'm happy to be a vessel for you to chuck comments into!
Matt O'Brien is hilarious, really charming. I like the idea of exploiting computer culture to its most hilarious extremes, which I've never seen done before on television (has it been done?) Well it hasn't been done by this guy, so keep it up, maybe just add some nice shots of you throwing computers into the lake. That would be my constructive criticism. Otherwise ROCK ONWARDS!
I will but I'm torn between what lake to chuck in to....thanks for watching! glad you enjoy'd it!
Your concept seems original and it was cute how you switched to the black and white at the end of your video. I would just advice not addressing the CBC in the way you did, or showing actual clips of any stand up comedy as CBC has expressed this is not what they are looking for. Good luck with your actual show though, careful with the humour!
I like the way it's filmed, and I like the acting. The concept has been done, in a way, but certainly not in this exact setting. Looking forward to more.
This is offensive
Here's to hoping you get that audio!

Hello Matt, this week three video surprised me with the language you used. I would encourage you to abstain and stay away from that. You had some really good and funny stuff though.
Luckily the language was bleeped out! right! Imagine I didn't bleep it out and the language was actually there! WHOAAAAA NELLY! That would really be a big friggen poo storm! Thanks for checking it out!
Ummmmmmmmmm this guy is so great! All the videos have been amazing and hilarious. GIVE THIS MAN A TV SHOW FOR GOSH SAKES. He cute. He sassy. He gooood.

Great job pal, you are a comedy titan. This is a great idea for a show, and I'd love to watch it on the CBC! Keep up the good work!
