Synopsis

With an endearing and relatable cast of characters, Upstaged celebrates a diverse and unique community. At its heart, this is a film about an unlikely group brought together by an ambitious director’s dream: to best the rival theater company. Throughout the increasingly hectic audition and rehearsal process the characters locate a sense of community, purpose, and identity.

Julia is a writer and actor for stage and screen. Her play, With Love and a Major Organ, was "Best of the Toronto Fringe" in 2012, and named "Outstanding New Play" by NOW Magazine. She is currently developing it into a feature film, and working on a trio of new plays with various Toronto companies. She wrote the story for, MIRRORS, a short produced by Great Lake Films.

Jacqueline Pepall is a writer/ director for film and television. Her recent directing credits include the critically acclaimed television series, "Then Dance" (Sky Arts, 2014), the award-winning 3D film "The Dead Moon" (Sky Arts, 2012). In 2012 Jacquie was listed as a "Director to Watch" by the Los Angeles International 3D Film Festival.

Talent, Producer

Katherine is an actor and photographer from Toronto. She has been living and working in Los Angeles in that capacity since 2008, but she remains a proud Canadian. Katherine had the pleasure of working on Upstaged in Toronto with two of her closest childhood friends and couldn't be prouder of the results. She looks forward to sharing it.
