Two wharf rats dream of bein' the best fishermen on PEI. All they need is a boat and some brains.
View ProjectTwo wharf rats gawkin' at all the wharf action.
Fave 147 Views 6700Hi Steam - thanks for the comment. We don't condone the equation of women and objects, but certainly we've seen that in certain circles on the wharf it seems to have been culturally and historically naturalized for some reason - and continues to be so. And we do find that problematic. We attempted to take something seemingly natural in that atmosphere and render it absolutely absurd, rather than avoiding this issue or moralizing for our characters that indeed exist in that world and would have internalized those ideas. Glad you like the old guy and we'll certainly try again. Keep yer eyes out!

Way to go on your comedy coup efforts to date. You have succeeded in making it to the top 55 and that is something to be proud of. Already the competition is getting tough as the quality of the competitors gets refined. Best wishes for making it to the next level.

Thanks Diana.
Funny, maybe a bit too crude.
A bit crude. Its worth noting that while the prize is a TV special, the competition is on the net. So we can be a bit cruder here.
Fnnny stuff, this show needs to be afloat
Just discovering your project now - hilarious! Great characters, dialogue and great twist at the end. Very smart.
Thans Lindsey.
Great acting. It feels like they aren't acting at all, no better compliment. Ton of dialogue as well, perhaps ad libbed?
Hey Forman...some ad libbed, but lots of writing and rehearsing....we tried a different approach.
I have watched this a couple of times. I think this is a cute idea and I really like the Canadian touches. I am just not sure this will appeal to all age groups and cbc audiences. Nicely done though.
Thanks Carly!
Funny
Very funny!
Great job! A double double entendre...love it. Favourited, boys!
Unique Voice. We had Road to Avonlea and Wind at My Back. Now it is PEI comedy's turn.
Good work. I saw this video like 4 times and for some reason didn't catch the punchline until now.
Love it. So funny.
I just watched all 3 videos now and I love it. It's like Beachcombers Gone Nasty. I like the authenticity that shines through it. It's rough but endearing, which is a neat balance to strike.
Haha love it! It's amazing to see the type of comedy we've got here in Canada, so diverse!
Thanks Seigfred.
Like it, plenty of potential. sorta like Beachcombers, Newfoundland style. Very canadiana.
that's where we're comin from. there's certainly some beachcomber in there with a little bit of east coast edge tossed into the mix.
We'll Rats... Not hard to tell which commentators have never been down the wharf.... I thought the boat in fish nets punch line was classic. Kinda sweet in a way.... For all their wharf rat bravado they're really like little foul mouthed boys wishing for the shiny new toy.... Equating boats and women is natural for a wharf rat... they're both objects of desire!
A bit sexist no? Can't just disavow it by doing the cheapest joke flip in the world, they're talking about a non-woman, a thing in fact, no, I thought it was a bit sexist and one note. The older guy made me smile, I dress like that on a friday calling in sick to sit and mope beers on the front porch, but no, I think the basic underlying sexism of the video makes me not want to watch it. Try again, lads.
This is hilarious, can't wait to see more from these guys. The mannerisms are on point, and its well shot. Maybe its just my east coast bias though
So fantastic, cannot wait to see more.
No.

Funny! I totally thought they were talking about fish!
Greasy dudes, good on ya. I was real worried about about the subject matter but had a good laugh at the end. Keep up the good work boys!
Ah, I love the editing. Sure, the dialogue and acting is great too... but love those quick shots. Who are the other people in these guys' world?
There are many wharf characters including DFO officers, fishmongers, poachers, their mother, and Angus - their mother's younger-aged lover that married into the family to snake Hughie and Martin's inheritance: a fishing boat and two fishing licenses. This is what leaves them stranded on the wharf.
that's some real funny stuff! keep murderdogging!
thanks stephan.
Real funny teaser, guys! Would like to see more variety/characters so I could get a sense of how this would stretch into a full series though. Don't want people to think you just have one joke. Still, excited to see more
Also - to keep giving more vids we need to keep advancing - so rate and follow us if you haven't!
Agreed Caitlin. We were keeping it simple for the first sketch, introducing just a key location and characters. We have lots of other jokes, characters, locations and ideas on paper and want to give people the chance to see them. Appreciate you giving us your time and comment!
We over here at Cooking with Heat I have enjoyed you folks since your first trailer leak in Sept.
Thanks CWH. Checking your trailer out now!
That's got to be the smallest telescope ever. (That's what she said). LOL Good luck guys! (Director of Fireproof)

What's next ?
What's next ?
We'll see what the next challenge is (if we get that far). Hope you stay tuned!
My question is, once the joke is revealed, where do you go from there? I thought the performances were fun to watch. The skit was well executed. Good for a few chuckles for sure. Good on you.
Thanks Dan - well once the joke is revealed the skit is over. But this is only meant to be 90 seconds in the lives of two characters. More of the story is in the synopsis and will be revealed in other videos. Glad you enjoyed it!
thanks for all the support so far everyone! hope your having fun.
The ending surprised me. Good play on words.
...this literally looks like the dumbest show ever made! so stupid
thanks for the feedback roger! will incorporate it into the next episode.
good job
Oh my god! The reveal at the end that they were talking about boats was amazing! I totally thought they were talking about girls. That was great, I can't wait to see more!
Great job on the song "In Out In Out" posted here on youtube http://youtu.be/PW7kBPRcr3Y
I'm not much of a singer but one hell of a drinker!!
You 'll have to come out and sing a song wit us sometime there cockey ol'l boy!
thanks smokecock
Hahaha great twist at the end, thought it was setting up halfway through, then thought I was wrong, then BOOM surprise. Would love to hear your thoughts on ours, Geoff and the Ninja! There are no twists, but there are slices.
we like slices. will check it out.
