Week 4 Key It: Poster A Fred And Carl Are Park Rangers

Poster A

For our first poster we wanted to capture the staples of camping and park life. The map shows key places within the park and provides a legend to give just a small clue as to what the spot might entail. We wanted the poster to be almost like a Where's Waldo page, how the more you look and analyze the different parts you find and discover more and more funny bits. We see this map being interchangeable to show different areas of the park and having different places on the legend each time the art is used. Some places may be used in show while others such as "Ol' Smelly" are simply show lore.

Week 4 Key It: Poster B Fred And Carl Are Park Rangers

Poster B

We drew inspiration for this poster from the film Full Metal Jacket. We matched a similar layout and font style then injected it with Fred & Carl greatness. The idea was to take the brutal, visceral tone of FMJ and wrap it around something so mundane and wholesome as a park ranger. The hat is an iconic piece of being a park ranger. While the original FMJ poster helmet is ripped, worn and stuffed with bullets we wanted to showcase the hat in pristine condition to echo Fred's clean no nonsense lifestyle. We see this art being updated with new taglines for each use much like a Simpsons couch gag.

    Well I had to go for Poster A as B was really simple but not very inspiring. Sorry. You guys can take this beyond the norm and hope you do. Good luck for the next round and hope you can bring it.

    I have to go with B. A was too busy for me. B is a simple Ranger hat so you know the show is about a Ranger.

    I like A... Reminds me of the paper place mats the waitress would slap down on the table at all the finest restaurants/gas stations along the
    Trans-Canada highway before Tims took over.

    Really like poster A. Delivers on what the show is about more than Poster B in my opinion. I love Full Metal Jacket but perhaps it evokes a different feeling that Fred and Carl are about. Glad to see maritime comedy still in the running and enjoy what you've been doing.

    I'm going to have to go with poster A, it does have a lot there but I find the idea pretty clever. The simplicity of poster B is nice, but for some reason I keep picturing a bear wearing the hat (maybe I've just seen Smokey too often). By the way, I find it's great that you guys take the time to respond and consider what your fans have to say, thanks for replying to my previous post.
