Six astronaut-rejects, stuck together, pretending they're on Mars for 5 years. What could go wrong?
View ProjectGet ready to find out why Mars Two is differenter than other science-fiction comedies about people pretending to live on Mars and having to work together and get along but they're all a little strange and funny. SCIENCE! (featuring music by Kenna Burima and Chris Neville - and filmed and edited by Jeremy Pollock!)
Fave 44 Views 809I like the concept, this could be something that turns out to be quite funny. I hope to see more of this.

Congratulations on making it to the Top 55! Creative team and really good concept. It’s tough to come up with solid product each week. Best of luck moving into the top 15.
One of my favourite in the contest for sure. Love to see more. Love the sets and love the costumes. Hope to see more as you go through the contest.
Mars Two might be the funniest of all these shows. All the videos so far have made me laugh. The concept of inept would-be-astronauts doesn't seem that clever in itself, but their misplaced confidence and general shambolic behavior keep finding new ways to crack me up.
I like the premise. I already want to see this and see these sensitive geeks get their dream come true. i'm curious about your set. And I'm inspired by all the imaginative possibilities with space. I hope you can continue to create and develop this idea.
Well the final hours of the vote to get to the next level are approaching now so it is up to the voters now to get you there. Best wishes to you for success and nice work on getting through to the top 55 for all those able who were able to get that far.
I had to really think about going to Mars when they were casting that reality show about it! I would totally go but I just got a new cat and they won't let me take him in Space! I would love to try out your simulator though!
Starfleet and Big Bang Theory mix. Very white atmosphere can be hospital like. The voices are hard to make out with so much echo.
Hope this project keeps getting funnier.
Super cool special effects but the funny took a little bit longer than i expected. Good luck on the next round guys. Everyone on comedycoup are working hard!
I like the concept, this could be something that turns out to be quite funny. I hope to see more of this.
You can really sense the love and passion for your project. A really fun concept. Would be great to see more and where you are headed with this idea.
hey guys, i think that this video is really great professionnal quality wise. I personnaly dont care about space though and dont see it as a tv show that would interesse a lot of people. good luck anyways
This is an original concept. I love space shows. I hope you do well Good luck to you and your team!!!
Ok this was a pretty funny clip. I'm not sure how far you can take this, its more like a Saturday Night Live Skit than the premise for a TV series, but what I saw, I liked.
You guys are the funniest! I love the quartet at the beginning- I laugh so hard! Keep at it; I'm looking forward to learning all the science from this show!!
What a wicked set! I believe you dill holes will have a great chance getting into the Top15. I'm going to check out your other series. Great work
good week two video! it was entertaining and had different elements I liked compared to the other groups. I look forward to seeing more.
I love how you incorporated the storyworld within the mission. It helps build an understanding of tone and character, while making sure you hit the requirements of the mission. Very creative!
I would go to mars with these funny folks...
"Colossal dillholes"! Hilarious! I love this sort of self-deprecating humour. I like the overall feel of the show as well. Good production. Can't wait to see what else is going to come from this project. Keep up the good work!
Really REALLY original idea! I'm not one particularly for science-fiction, but this one definitely grabs my attention. Catchy title as well!
I love the set! I'm not a super "science fictiony" (definitely a word) person , but I feel like this could appeal to a really broad audience. Great job!
I liked the humour here. Nice to see high production value at this point in the competition. This is also an interesting concept; one that has not really been seen in this competition. I like the dialogue and he back and forth and the 'is he god?' made me chuckle. I'm interested in seeing what comes next with these guys. They defiantly have usable tools to put out some funny stuff. Also good to see the science adventure aspect. Just a bit too much white in this video. Not having much contrast made it hard to focus where to look. But I think that there will be more fun stuff to come from these guys,
Seems high end sets for this point in the competition. But certainly looks great. A long way ahead of where others seem to be. Almost looks like a show introduction already. But can't argue with the concept or the execution. Good luck to you.
thanks! lucky for us the Calgary airport has an educational "Spaceport" for kids. they were very gracious in letting us shoot there :)
I would definitely watch this! More please!
Wow! your set is awesome but the sound quality isn't so good. Looking forward to the next video. Good luck.
Love the concept! Makes me think of Red Dwarf :) I'm a sucker for sci-fi comedy and am voicing my support accordingly! Here here Mars 2! May you thrust into the realm of top 15 like an interstellar erection!
What's not to love about a group of astronaut wanna-bes enacting out a Mars mission...on Earth? It is a funny idea! The acting is good, set design awesome. I'm curious to see what antics the crew will perform, and to learn a bit about the characters. Solid beginning, crew!
funny stuff!
Clearly you have done some nice work on your set, that is impressive, your visual fx are good enough for comedy, so the production side looks good. As for the story still can't tell, at least I've seen the characters.
You guys have one of the best Ideas I have seen in this competition! Congratulations on making it this far! if my friends don't win this thing. I'm pulling for you guys for sure!
So far, the sets already look great, and the few bits and pieces that you've put up make it look very funny and very appealing in a dry "dysfunctional family" sort of way.
Great production value! Killer set. I do agree with some of the other comments about not being entirely sure how this show is "different", but the Differentiator challenge has been a hard one on most shows. Good luck in the coming rounds!
Nice visual production. Good luck during this week of voting. Keep up the solid word and I'll be looking forward to seeing what you guys do next.
The video had great visuals but I really didn't get a good sense on what's different about the show. What ingot from this video is that it all takes place in one room
Certainly is a different story line but it feels like a really bad movie scene. Sorry thought it was going to be more lively and intense. Hope you make a comeback and bring what's needed in the next round.
If I vote for you, will you pay me back with science?
Seriously though, great concept and fantastic looking set. Looks very good. Characters feel like they might be a little flat, but I don't really have enough to go on.
love your set.
The video and the concept really does stand out as something different. Hopeing to see lots more from this team and see where exactly they want to go with the show. Hope to see you in the next round.
Your set and characters are cute, not sure that it was really funny or showed your diversity? Glad that you showed the snow as I was wondering how you would deal with that when you have to go outside in the future. Good Luck.
Comedy in space, what's next an astronaut playing Ziggy Stardust?
That's actually a good question, what kind of music do astronauts like? Are they into some kind of crazy trance-y space-y music? Maybe some kind of supper digital robotic music (domo arigato?) Probably prog rock, massive long songs for those interstellar planetary voyages.
See this is what I love in videos. Some great art direction and cute special effects that are just real enough to quiet my sarcasm section of my brain. Good work!
Go Calgary kids!!!
Great concept, great production, I will be curious to see how the interplay of the characters work out and if there is a seasons-long narrative arc to the show...am interested to see more...
Nice week 3 video. This is something that I haven't seen before and sets it apart from the other projects. I appreciate that your team went the extra mile to showcase the idea of how you would make this show different.
Even if you don't ever really go to Mars, I'm pretty sure I would love this show. It would be pretty cool tho if the show took on an extra-terrestial component… … Canada needs more sci fi.
nice , like how it they have people to pull for information about space and mars. could use more character interaction to know how well i will like it though
Love your set and your production values, you're doing really well on no budget. Hope to see your show go further!
Good potential
This looks pretty sweet for a low budget jobbie. I really dig the sets and lighting. I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes -- hopefully it will be a 50/50 split between Science Fact and Science Funny. It's a cool concept, to be sure:)
What a great bunch of colossal dill-holes!
Television's definitely been needing a science-fiction comedy - and I'm rooting for you guys, but I'd love to see either higher stakes on every episode, or more outlandish characters. Red Dwarf and Futurama work because the events or characters (or sometimes both) are larger than life. Good luck guys!
Extremely cool special effects. I'm impressed you folks did this super quick! Must have been a pain key framing all the effects! Good luck folks and do vote for your fellow Albertans at http://comedycoup.cbc.ca/mapleu
Go Alberta!
Great cast and great crew. I want to be on Mars Two! And that video looks great! Nice work guys!!! Allons-y!
The idea is fun and although I do wonder how it will play out week to week it is definitely worth following. You have a very experienced team and that makes the expectations VERY high. Good Luck.
Really like the and the cool set design. Reminds me of 70s and 80s scifi win!
love the looks of the set. very cool designs. good work on the vid.
I sooo liked it!
How do you guys get the ideeas? I could see a lot of funny acts and situations in just the 90 seconds of the video and I so enjoyed it :) !!! And the self irony, the straight faces, all the people in the base, the group singing (nicely, btw :) ) and especially the Incoming Call :)))))))))) yes, it's totally a differentiator, it's not a space, it's a "space dream" or rather: "wannabe in space" project...ok, "Wannabe on Mars" project :D Your ideea represents most of us, your audience. Furthermore, maybe even all of us, since we all dream and this is about dreaming to become/do something. So, yes, I like to see and especially, live your dream - thank you for allowing me! I'll be with your team all the way and hope to see you in top 50 and then 15!
Go team!
Nice work guys! Even though a show about space is not original, I think your angle is unique. It is like children playing house, only with adults on Mars. Good luck!
I have definitely yelled out 'science' at one point in my life to pretend like I know what I'm doing. Great concept folks. Very topical and easy to relate to. I wish you luck getting into the top 50!
nicely done
MAYBE WE CAN MAKE IT TO MARS!! good job on the mission... the production value was great, and then it dropped :( with the sound in the end.. i know you guys dont have a lot of time to complete missions, but the contrast between all the great effects, and then the sound sounding like a camcorder really brought me out of it. But i think you DEF have potential!! Good luck!
This is an interesting idea for a show. This short was also pretty well done. I was entertained for this short and hopefully you can continue to produce more funny situations on "mars".
I found it clever how you answered this weeks mission statement. You definitely have an interesting concept here and I can see it having potential as a series. It would be great to throw in more jokes whenever you can though, true you only have 90 seconds to work with but the more the better. Good luck guys!
I hadn't seen this project until today, but it think it has great promise. I particularly love the contrast between the enthusiastic "We're going to Mars!" science geeks, and the lone pragmatic "It's a terrible idea" guy. Hopefully those conflicting visions are actually part of the characters, and not just a throw-away gag for this promo.
I keep being mildly disappointed in these. I get that there's a time crunch but there don't seem to be many jokes that play on the actual concept, as much as putting the mundane office banter of dopes into a mars capsule.
That new bearded guy seems pretty funny. Hopefully he gets a lot more lines. He may very well have star potential.
I give you 3 gold stars for the correct use of the term, "Dillholes".
"Is he God???" I like the production design, and goofy characters. More sketch less pitch please!
Nice set design, production quality is good but this would have been funnier if you hadn't spent so much time plugging your show.
Nice work, the videos are great.
Yay Mandy!
good luck! nice video
As a robot, I approve of this.
Lol "Science is over here, and that's a science thing!" This is adorable.
