A mockumentary about the inner workings of Deep Woods Golf & Country Club in Stanston, BC, Canada.
View ProjectHow unique and original is "The Country Club"? Watch and find out!
Fave 43 Views 683More of everything please! You have nailed the tone of the show, the characters are fresh and the acting is amazing. Great job! I think with better production quality you would be in the top three right now, but who fucking cares - I love how it looks low budget! You're going to make it anyway.

Congratulations on making it to the Top 55! You guys are doing a great job at keeping in the run and really showing great enthusiasm over your project. I really believe in you guys and want to see this thru to the end. Best of luck moving into the top 15.
So proud! So funny!
Nice concept. Good luck to you guys. Can see where the idea will form a lot of potential scenarios for laughs. Keep up the good work and hopefully see you in the top 15
I worked at a private club for many years and I think there's no shortage of ideas or scenarios you guys could do with it, so I actually had the bar set a little higher before watching this. If you guys would have touched more on what it is about the work place that's so entertaining I think this edit could have been a little more entertaining. Keep it up though, I'm eager to see what else you guys can put together.
Enjoyed the concept. Congratulations on making the top 55 with the caddy shack idea. Not sure who the Bill Murray replacement would be but spin outs on the golf cart seems to be a good fit. Good luck
LOL i like it
You guys have quality acting! Do you really work at a country club, because I for one, believe that you do, based on your acting. Well done. You are funny. I like that.
Great job!! Hilarious!
good job on this weeks challenge. Congratulations on making it this far and I look forward to seeing more. keep on going!
Awesome job guys!! Really funny to watch and kept me engaged! Good luck! Looking forward to more
good job on this weeks video. it gave me a chuckle. I am just not sure if this show is much different than shows that are already on air. Good luck.
This is absolutely fantastic! I laughed so hard watching this! I love the acting and you nailed to tone of the show! I can't wait to see where things go. Good luck you guys!
That logo is pretty bad, but Lara is awesome. So awesome that I want to see the 4 hours of cut footage of her arguing about the plus size actress thing. Look forward to seeing what's next!
I am going to be honest, I did not like the premise going into this video. After watching it though you have peeked my interest, and I am curious to see what can happen. Keep posting.
when I watched week three, I wasn't sure it was worth watching, but suddenly, right afterward, I thought hhm! serious, yet each character is somehow intriguing.
liked both posters and I'm going to watch week #5 now and get back to you
More I want to see more
Need more videos!!! Love this
Your week 3 entry was great, loved the ending, she's brings the funny, can't wait to see what else you guys do, keep at er
Lara definitely brings the funny! Thanks for the comment Sheldon.
funny stuff! good character development will take this show to the next level. the premise is great. i like that Emmet is so serious about the "documentary". hope there is more to come.
Oh there will be, Emmett is very serious, he wants the documentary to be as good as possible. He might go so far as to criticize the documentary crew in Week 5. Stay tuned!
Lots of potential for development and introduction of eclectic golf club members and golfing fraternity. Look forward to seeing more.
good premise ..
the girls in this show are cool. good job, keep it up. really like the concept and setting
You guys are normally very funny ... so this is a shoe-in .. Go Country Club!!
I really feel that of all the concepts I've looked like this one definitely has the most potential to at least be in the top 5. If well developed we could really see season after season of this with constant laughs. Many of the other videos receiving popularity would work well as 'internet viral videos', although wouldn't be able to cut it to capture the CBC television audience.
An exclusive golf club is a great setting for all kinds of funny situations and interactions among a variety of different people and personalities. The trick will be finding the ones that appeal to your audience the most.
This concepts got a lot of potential. Funny location and limited enough to make it easy to shoot. Also you can have the core characters plus a rotating cast of guests at the golf club. I know someone else mentioned it but check out Red Oaks on Amazon Studios for inspiration
I love how you continued the description of your show in this video in the character’s voices. It makes me want to see more of them!
Great location for humour. Love the self-depreciation. Nice work.
I watched this with my dad and he's dying to know which golf course that is! Love the diversity of the cast have to admit I saw the punchline for the plus size woman joke coming but good job on the logo and the vid.
you guys did a really good job on your videos and you work really well as a team I just think this concept is a little too similar to the office and not original enough. but you got some laughs out of me!
Nice call out Em J.
I totally agree with Em J. There is plenty of room for a mockumentary on a Golf and Wedding Planning. I think this idea is fantastic and I am very surprised it hasn't been done before. Great work, The Country Club.
In Carly's world apparently there is only enough room for one TV show in the mockumentary genre. She's likely still on MySpace because Facebook is "too similar and not original enough".
Great concept for a show. I think you've completed the challenge each week with just the right touch of humour. The acting seems very natural, not forced. Lots of possible funny scenarios. Look forward to following your progress. Good luck!
I like this concept a lot! it is unique and original. Your videos seem really funny and I do hope you're bringing some personal experience to this from working at country clubs! :)
A lot of our content in our show has come from personal experiences Caileigh and I have had working over a decade at country clubs. We have had oodles of ridiculous and hilarious things to draw from that we have seen in making this show!
Does this team actually work at a golf course / country club? If so I'm hoping for some reality tv through in there (except the housewives won't know it's tv)...
Caileigh worked at a golf club for 7 years, I worked at a golf course for 2 years and a golf store for 1 year. All of us have grown up playing golf, so we know our subject matter pretty thoroughly. Unfortunately no reality tv though, it's all mockumentary.
a very fresh idea, with a great cast! Looking forward to more guys.
More of everything please! You have nailed the tone of the show, the characters are fresh and the acting is amazing. Great job! I think with better production quality you would be in the top three right now, but who fucking cares - I love how it looks low budget! You're going to make it anyway.
Thanks Grace! It's the three of us handling everything at the moment, so with better gear and the ability to hire a crew, the production value would increase to a level that would match the grand scale of our show.
It's a good concept. I like the characters. Just needs some pro technical editing, sound, lighting stuff (I'm obviously not an editor...). I think the characters have just enough depth that you can do a lot with them.
Thanks Emily, yeah if we won this competition, we'll definitely be able to utilize better gear. In terms of editing, are you talking about the transitions and cutting style?
Loving the show!!!
I like this to much to leave constructive comments. Um. I thought the audio was quiet? (I didn't think the audio was quiet).
Haha, thanks for the compliment Chloe. A note on the audio actually, the only room we were able to shoot in this week was directly above the kitchen, it was quite loud below us with the constant hum of dishwashing and cooking machinery at work. So it was tough to try and work around for sure when we were adjusting audio levels and trying to fix the hum.
interesting cast and premise. so much comedy can happen at a golf course. i love the bending of stereotypes and the actress is scary funny. good luck with your project and making your dreams come true :)
Both Lara and Caileigh are tremendously talented actors and will be fan favourites for sure. Thanks for the support!
great setting for a tv show. I know amazon studios is doing something similar called Red Oaks but it's set in the 80s. You should check out the pilot for some inspiration. Either way I think you guys have something here.
Thanks Danielle! I just checked out the pilot and it is an interesting show for sure. Although "Red Oaks" and "The Country Club" have similar settings; our humour, storyline, characters, and the fact we focus more on golf and other departments (weddings, beer cart, clubhouse, greenskeeping, etc) makes our series much different.
I enjoy EVERY Country Club video. I think you guys have nailed the tone of the show. The edit has a great pacing, it lets you sit in the awkward moments. I look forward to seeing more of those side characters who had great cameos. (The golf cart drifting was a highlight) Keep it up!!!
Thanks Danny, we will!
The Country Club video is really funny, very we'll done
Very well done. Really liked how your characters presented the description of your show. Let us still laugh at the show itself and made me want to see more.
This is going to be an AMAZING series! You guys are going to make it far! =] GOOD LUCK!
Can't wait to see more!
There's been such a proliferation of mockumentary type shows on the air in the last few years, but I think that's because the medium allows for so much flexibility in terms of how we get to know the characters, and the comedy that comes from contrasting how people see themselves versus how the camera documents them acting is always a delight. This seems like a show with humour but also one that has a lot of heart, too. My only criticism would be that I feel the logo doesn't really seem to reflect the show from what I've seen so far—it sort of implies that the show will be some sort of golf course sex romp. You guys can do better!
oh my god hahaha Brock P. such a tease
Thanks for the compliment/comment Stacey, you've pretty much hit the nail on the head why mockumentaries are so popular. At first glance, our logo does not seem to fit in with what we're doing. But trust me when I say this, it will make perfect sense to our audience why Deep Woods Golf & Country Club would have a logo like this in the first episode. I think the biggest debate will be whether it looks like a palm tree or an oak tree, but I don't want to jump to any premature conclusions here, we'll have to wait and see what happens with the rest of the ComedyCoup competition.
Perfection!
Can't wait for week #4.. You guys are de-best!
that was really great, guys! good production value and great flow..... i was realxing to watch and i laughed out loud.. im sure you guys are going to go far! creative was to complete the mission, too!!
I find your concept really creative and would love to see more of your show. Your idea definitely has potential for a series I just think you need to make sure the comedy stays throughout the sketch and that it has more than just one great joke. Good luck with the competition!
Thanks for the compliment Christina! We're always trying to improve how we do our sketches, while ensuring that the comedy is there. More importantly though, we want people to invest in our characters and the story we're trying to tell. It's a delicate balance trying to do that while also bringing out the humour for sure, but we're loving the challenge so far.
Ha I love it! The name and logo are top 5. Great setting, funny characters with good chemistry. Great comedic timing. Can't wait to see more!
Thanks for the compliment Jezza, support like yours is what drives us to keep going and bring our best to everything we do with our project!
interesting cast and premise, so much comedy can happen at a golf course. i love the bending of stereotypes and the actress is scary funny. good luck with your project and making your dreams come true :)
I like your mixed cast of characters, it's definitely a very unique trio. Also, forgive me if it's mentioned somewhere but how did you guys get access to a golf park? Those golf carts look rad.
Thanks for the compliment Kajetan! We were able to gain access to the golf club we used because the town we live in (Langley, BC) is home to some very generous and good-hearted people. When we approached the ownership and management group that runs the golf club, they were fully on board and were really excited with the show we wanted to create. They gave us full access to their golf & country club, including all the facilities within. "The Country Club" would not be possible without them and your compliment/comment is a nice reminder of how lucky we've been and how much support we've received from our community.
Love the Deep Woods logo. It fits with our humour at The Dangers of Online Dating
Thanks for compliment Brianne, best of luck with your project.
You guys are awesome.
This looks like it could keep me interested for a least a few episodes. I like how they don't seem to take themselves too seriously.
Differentiator was surprisingly not as exciting for me but I keep coming back to you guys. I like your stuff.
Thanks for the feedback Ron!
LIKE
Haha brilliant !
I really like the setting and the characters that you've developed so far. I hope that as the competition moves forward we will have the opportunity to see more scenes with the characters interacting with each other to contrast the many "talking heads" we've seen. Love the comedic vibe! Looking forward to more from this team.
Thanks for the feedback Courtney! We're hoping to have the chance to bring more scenes in future videos for sure. Just with a 90 second time crunch, we have to prioritize what footage will best engage our audience and fulfill our weekly mission requirements. A 20-30 second scene takes up a lot of valuable time.
amazing!
Still trying to figure out what is so significant about the logo...
Love the way these three characters play off each other. Deadpan! Always enjoy watching your videos.
Thanks Holly, best of luck with Welcome to Tulip!
Can you get Bill Murray?
Haha, that would be unreal. I could see him crashing a party we're at, but I don't know if he'd be willing to reprise Carl Spackler.
You crazy kids.. Fun cast indeed..
I liked this week's video. The premise is pretty unique and I want to know more about the characters. I'm not totally sold but I'm looking forward to your next vids!
Looks good
You guys nailed this mission hahah, hilarious!
"I don't want to be played by a plus size woman!" Nice :)
